Tongue in cheek because while it would be helpful it would not be Constitutional.
Is there a greater waste of time and money than Congressional hearings? They once had a purpose - getting to the truth. No more. I've been watching these things for several years now and they are a total waste of time. No seeking of truth. These things have become adversarial clown shows. Whichever side is conducting a hearing these days use it solely for political theater. Questioning is adversarial, hostile and seeks only to score political points for the questioning side. Nothing ever gets resolved, better understood or even clarified. Nothing changes. No one gives an inch.
So why bother? What useful purpose do they serve?
