I suspect the OP has fled the scene considering the turn of the convo....

It's been awhile but is Chris Madrids in San Antonio still around? Sometimes those local hamburger joints are better than the franchised ones. Actually they're a lot better CM's was to die for.

Burned down. CM's and Los Barios were/are fun places. Longhorn cafe on the north end of Blanco is decent.

In & Out sucks IMHO.
We have one in New Braunfels and from day 1 it’s been packed, took a ton of business away from Burger King across the street, even took their employees. I have to agree though In and Out doesn’t do anything for me, their food is bland imo, I’d rather eat at Burger King. In and Out does have good service though and they’re clean.

The chocolate shakes are pretty decent at I and O. Other than that, service and cleanliness are its best attributes.

Speaking of NB....we went to Clear Springs cafe yesterday. We got the onion rings and catfish. The onion rings were very good...but as far as the rest of it.....If it going to cost what it costs to eat at Kings Inn it better be as good as Kings Inn. All I can say is, for us the 340 mile round trip to Kings Inn is a way better value.

Clear springs used to be good. Then they became a tourist trap. It's garbage now. There's a place in Seguin that has an AYCE fried catfish night and it's pretty solid. Just can't remember the name of the joint.

JJ's or Dixie grill maybe?

Personally I think the best food in Seguin is a place called Giuseppe's. Crap location but damn good authentic Italian eats.
The PowerPlant was good but my last visit was a huge disappointment.

Power plant has gone to sh!t. I know the owner and she is tired of seeing me in public because every time we run into each other, I point at her and say loudly (all in good fun) "hey everybody, this is the lady that fvcked up the food at Power Plant!".

She's never amused at my antics.

I agree, the best thing is their onion rings, the catfish is average. I’ve lived here for 40 years and they been packed for business as far back as I can remember

So, you drove ALL the way over from Kissing Tree? Thanks for the invite. Don’t worry about me though, I was in Gonzales and enjoying the best boudin from my buddy Johnny’s place

I don’t live in Kissing tree. My old folks retreat is west of Seaworld in San Antonio. Is I ever do go back to Clear Springs you will be my first call. Considering their prices I would need a co-signer.

The burgers are about the same.....but the fries at McDonalds are exponentially better than those at In Out

The burgers are not even close. McDonalds burgers are dog shit. I happen to like in and out fries because they don't freeze them and then soak them in sugar. They actually cut them day off and fry them.

Just about everything at IN and Out is fresh. And they actually give a shit what their burger looks like to the customer. That matters to me. McDonalds, you're lucky to get half your order right.

I question the ability to taste of anyone that chooses the following over In and Out

McDonalds
Burger King
Wendy's
Jack in the Box
Sonic

Places I wouldn't question your ability to taste

Whataburger
Culvers
P. Terry's
Freddy's

I don't count Five Guys, Mooyah, or Smash Burger because those are sit down places and in a different category

You forgot Dairy Queen, in and out always gives me the bubble guts.

Not a chance in hell man. I can understand picking the flat bread, greasy ass Whataburger over In and Out, but McDonalds? Good grief man

Weevil....the issue is not that I think any of those are better than In and Out....I think ANYWHERE has better than In and Out.......and that includes the frozen ready makes you get at the grocery......as for the fries....I stand by my earlier statement. The fries I got at In and Out were just like the frozen ones you get in a bag and then bake in the oven.

I'm kinda with you on this one. I don't hate I&O but I would never choose their burgers over anywhere else. Yep, great service, organized, clean, & clear menu but I found the food to be very plain. I honestly probably couldn't tell the difference between their product and something you'd get from the frozen section at heb.
It's not bad, I just don't think it's anything special.

You mean the frozen buy in bulk burgers that aren’t even beef? Those?

To each their own, but I think it’s more psychological than anything else.

They literally cut the potato and then cook the fries lol. You can get them soggy, normal or crispy. You can them no salt extra salt or normal.

Imagine trying to do this anywhere else.

Have you been to Avery's Seafood Grill in the shopping center? They moved after the last hurricane. Shrimp and clam chowder, key lime pie are excellent!

Those folks are like family. I go have breakfast there at least once a week.
