The 2017 draft concluded with only one Texas Longhorn selected in 3rd rounder D'onta Foreman. The media and our rivals have really enjoyed pointing out the lack of success we have had in the draft recently. That said, who do y'all see as possible drafted players after next season?

Here are the seniors on the roster for next season:
RB - Roderick Bernard
WR - Armanti Foreman
Lorenzo Joe
Dorian Leonard
TE - Andrew Beck
OL - Brandon Hodges
Tristan Nickelson
DE - Naashon Hughes
DT - Poona Ford
CB - Antwuan Davis
S - Jason Hall

I don't think any of them are assured to be draft picks. With good seasons and combines guys like Armanti or Ford could certainly be considered in later rounds,

Most expect Malik and Connor to be high picks if they leave early. With good seasons Davante Davis, Kris Boyd and Holton Hill could also consider leaving early but that is less certain.

In all, it seems that we will have between 2-4 players drafted depending on who leaves early and how the season goes next year. I think our draft doldrums will be put behind us but it may not happen until 2019.

I agree will take a few years to start putting more guys in the league. Strong and his new staff every year did a terrible job in terms of development. Hopefully Herman could get this turned around.

When Mack was still here he pursued Jamal Adams and Solomon Thomas guys who were very high picks.

I saw it posted on another board, but the 2013 state of Texas recruiting class was abysmal. Not only the guys that Texas signed but there was little to no production from so many top 100 guys.

I don't see much of a chance any of our to be SRs get drafted. It would take beyond good seasons for those guys to get into the draft. None have had any production to date. Ford would likely be left out based on measurables even with a great year.

Isn't this the final indictment of the Charlie Strong era? Where is Herbstreit's analysis of Coach Strong's player development? Charlie was set up to fail? Ha!

Well in regards to this draft which is mostly made up of the 2013 recruiting class all schools that relied on the state of Texas for their talent laid a big egg. Just scrolling through the top 100 for the state is a bunch of names you never heard one peep out of past recruiting.

3 players will get drafted with Ford being the only SR. Malik and Conner will go high. We might see another player get drafted but he has to have a blow out season. I would love to see Leonard in the league, great size and speed but he has buttery hands.

I think Williams is the only draftable player next year (if he leaves early). Malik would need drastic improvement to even get drafted early much less go high. The NFL isn't going to draft him based on his high school accolades. They have no problem leaving former 5* players off their boards. KD Cannon wasn't drafted and he was incredibly productive. Ford's size will keep him off most boards, not to mention his lack of production. It's one thing to be small, it's another to be small and not have production.

What will get Malik drafted is that he is 6'2 - 6'3, 240, runs like a gazelle and is incredibly strong. Not saying he will go #7, but there are enough teams looking for dudes that he will get drafted

He's not incredibly strong. He's athletic in space but he's not incredibly strong. He gets dominated at the point of attack, and his listed height/weight may not be accurate.

Malik may not go in round one, but he will get drafted if he can keep his job.... You also have JUCO Gary Johnson coming in.

Don't forget that he got benched last year....

Jefferson, M
Williams, C
Warren III, C
Boyd, K
Davis, D

Are a few that could do well in the draft.

Of the Seniors, I'm looking a Hughes, N with a chance to grab some attention this season. But, Ponna and Foreman have a shot to make big impressions as well.

Bench pressing close to if not over 400 pounds, is very strong.

Not when you squat less. Unless he plans on shedding blocks by having the OL lay on him so he can bench press him off.

I kind of forgot about Warren if he stays healthy he could very well be drafted. The other guys outside of Williams I don't see unless we are talking incredible JR campaigns. That not out of the realm of possibility but I wouldn't bet on it.

The guy I think of that most closely mirrors Malik is Hollywood Henderson. If Malik is half as productive he will have a great NFL career. Henderson was only 220 # but he returned kicks and punts. Malik might be faster, but before he got on the crack, Henderson was as good as there was.

I'm not sold on Foreman at all. Warren has been injury prone. Boyd and Davis has been totally inconsistent

Guys Malik had 1 tackle in the spring game. I just don't see any progression in him. He hesitates and is unsure of what to do. Now this may change under Tommy's tutelage but it wouldn't surprise me to see Gary Johnson take his spot. Malik getting drafted, at this point, is a long shot IMO.

I wonder if KD and Ish Zamora (the dog beater) would like a do over. From 3 hots and a cot to unemployed. Bad decision fellas.

My guess is Zamora probably would have been ostracized by the new staff, so he probably didn't have much choice.

I think he's going to be a 4 year guy, and will be drafted. Not a first rounder though.

KD cannon was already waived by the 49ers after a weekend off on contact practices. That was fast!

I wouldn't touch Warren with anything above a 5th round pick. It's a waste to take a runningback that can't stay healthy.
