If Urban doesn’t come here it will be because he doesn’t want to coach. Really that simple.
UM wants complete control. He doesn't want donors meddling. He also doesn't want professors causing trouble. Texas needs to clean up some of the cancer within the program. It's been here for a long time and it needs to go. The access crap needs to stop. This isn't about country club outings with grandma. It's about winning some football games. If he doesn't come, it will be the BMD's and their meddling that keeps him away. Save the country club for Tarrytown.
Yep that’s why I say the BMD stuff is over talked about. Urban is going to say “this is the way it will be done” and if not he simply won’t take the job.
I agree 100% with this. The BMD's need to back off and leave the HC alone and let him do his job. The HC job at Texas is hard enough without these guys being a distraction. This should have stopped years ago.
You guys better pull every stop to get him in Austin and no damn excuses this time. No second rate hires. Nothing. You change everything you have to make way for urban. Period.
This^. Only 2 college coaches with big enough ‘nads and credibility to get the space they need to run the show. One, we tried to hire before and the other is UM. Hopefully, the BMDs are as tired of losing as we are to grant all accommodations.
It is easier said than done, and they will have a certain level of access. Do you expect the following to happen?

At times yes. They may pay Urban’s salary but Urban is in charge. Why? He doesn’t need the job he can(and will) bounce any time he feels like if.
I don't think anyone expects to have input on anything to do with coaching or running the team. What they do want is for him to acknowledge them and have some sort of relationship with him so whenever there are any rumors floating around they can tell their buddies "Well I was talking to Urban the other day and he told me..." They want to name drop so people think they are important. They want to be in the know.
I understand what people are trying to say here. But these BMD donate a lot of 💰 to the school and you can't really keep them at a distance.
C'mon now you think UM was able to keep them at distance when he was at FL or tOSU? I'm sure they got to go to the practices, talked to players about what it means to be a gator or a buckeye blah blah blah. This happens everywhere. I knew Mike Jones a player from the beginning of the MB era. He told me once that after these long hot TX summer practices the players had to hear Jamail deliver this kind of speech he said the players hated it. They want to talk to the coach at practice, tell them what the first play of the game would be etc....
I agree that a bunch of millionaires who are frustrated fb coaches are annoying. What I'm trying to say is they will be there and the coach knows it.
Not being critical of anyone on here just trying to put this coach and the BMD in it's proper perspective.
I’ve noticed As long as the seats are full a lot of schools and teams will allow mediocrity as long as possible. Case in point the Dallas Cowboys since 1995.
