So OU has its transfer QB Gabriel. Who knows how it will turn out. But now rumors that if CW (or his dad) does not get an NIL premium maybe he will come back to OU. Then hearing Casey Thompson down to OU or Huskers. So big debate on the board as to who might agree to back up Gabriel. Can we go back to 1975?

Oh no no no my man. This is what fvcking Ed O'Bannon wanted 20 years ago when he started this mess. He couldn't hack it in the NBA and wanted compensation for his likeness on the EA sports college basketball video game.
Don't kid yourself. Ed O'Bannon claims he started down this road "for the good of the athletes". He didn't. He started down this road to line his own pockets.

And now, here we are.

I read where 3000 athletes have entered the portal LOL. This is dumb, players are getting a full ride scholarship to play football already. The NIL is being abused already, naturally. They better put some stop gaps in place

Most of those 3000 won't get anything. Imo, Texas is doing it right. Set a floor for NIL and bring in the best across the board. Allow for athletes to add on their own but set a super high floor. Not many will be able to match.

This year maybe be the outlier as there where no camps, seeing coaches in action, touring campuses and facilities in person, etc for the 2021 class from COVID protocols. It was all done via zoom calls.

Hate to say it but OU will not be able to keep up. It was a good run.

Who are you kidding? Of all the things to accuse OU of, falling behind in regards to paying players is not one of them. They blazed this trail long ago, my friend. We just found the map.

Agree. OU is one of the dirtiest, outlaw programs in CFB history. They know their way around. The only question may be do they have enough deep pocketed alums to pay year after year the type of money that a&m just laid out?

This will be interesting because 2 of the 3 of those players (Gabriel and Thompson) would have ZERO leverage at OU, and for sure, at least 1 is the backup. And the first time whoever is QB1 throws an interception, you'll have (at least) half the fan base hollaring for one of the other 2 to be playing. It would take extraordinary coaching to keep that from becoming a complete cluster in the QB room.

Aggy won't be able to funnel 30 million under the table ever year. NIL will take recruiting into the light of day. The # of businesses lined up at Texas door is limitless with our Alumni base and tech power in Austin. We are going back to the power of pre schollie limits. Texas is about to be on top in sports once again.

This is what I meant. They were good at giving momma a car or a job but can they keep up with the large NIL race that is beginning.

I would be concerned if there weren't scholarship limits. OU will be fine. I'm assuming they'll be some parameters put in place, if not you'll have about 20 schools playing football and the rest fall by the wayside

Yep. If there aren’t limitations or governance of some sort, we’ll end up with 20 schools that become the minor league to the NFL and everyone else reverting back to traditional CFB. All the 4 and 5* money makers will be in the minor league and the 3-4 year players in the rest of the schools.

There's plenty of players to go around, you'll just have to find those bargain deals.

Unionizing is next. Then a CBA amongst member schools. Then a cap on NIL. Then it will filter into HS sports.

When do the Little Leaguers start getting paid? ESPN making cash off those 12 year olds. Pay them!!

Hasn’t that been the way college football has been for quite some time? Seriously most of the 4-5 star guys go to 15-25 schools. Been that way pre NIL. Nothing really has changed there

It'll be down to about 8-10 schools for a few years now

Math will not work.

YOu can only play 22 and while the $$$$$ is great, end of the day for the majority, it's about PT.

Now if we are going to FINALLY go to 1 Super conference of 64 teams, 4 sub conferences and 8 divisions, I'm all in.

TEXAS and OU just kicked 8 ankle biters to the curb and they countered by adding 4 more ankle biters to great the Group of 6 and the Power 4.

Have to be 18 to sign a contract.

Little league? Maybe Danny Almonte was the first to get paid! 😉

I wouldn’t sleep on Venables quite yet he’s been quietly assembling a pretty stout staff imo. He appears to be getting after it and between him and Stoops, OU still finished with a top 10 recruiting class, albeit a little smaller than it was originally but much better than it could have been. I like the way he’s handled the qb situation by not letting Williams’ dad dictate OU’s qb situation. Getting the Evers kid and the Gabriel kid was a must.

Hahaha. That's the NCAA BBall Champion/Big 12 Football Champion/Sugar Bowl Champion "ankle biting" Baylor Bears to you!

So Aggie made a determination a couple of years ago that there was no way they'd be winning anything of significance so they're going to try to NIL their way to a Championship but Aggie will tell you the players are coming for the "8-5 culture" Jumbo is creating

And SEC fans piling on LOL

Yeah, but they are out front pushing the limits.
I admire the effort.

I used to play every angle I could to get the needed results, but I always considered myself, and tried to be a " color in the lines guy".

It's been a minute since Barry Switzer man. Time to let the "renegade program" thing go.

Also, let's stop pretending like Oklahoma is Mississippi with shoes. We have plenty of money and culture to go around. We have pro sports. OKC is about a step behind Dallas. Deal with it.

I fvcking hate Dallas-- but my bruh.....

A step?

You're a "step" behind Dallas?

Is that like playing hopscotch from Nova Scotia to Greenland to Iceland to Wales kind of step?

There's more teeth in South Oak Cliff than in all of Oklahoma. You're wealthiest citizen is dead, T Boone-- your second wealthiest Oklahoman lives in Nashville and fvcks fat Trisha Yearwood.
That's not true Clob... I know, I know. You have a whole whopping 8 billionaires in your state. 2 of them are husband and wife and own truck stops. One owns hobby lobby. 1 is a widow that sold her husband's oil company. And another owns some newspapers.

Ya-- you dudes are a step away from Dallas.

Damn, that’s a hell of a step to skip over Newfoundland! Lol
