Odds of season happening

If there is no season, cfb will never be the same. Like nuking a city, it will never be the same. The financial destruction will be huge. Gonna laugh when all these people crying about virus realize in the next few weeks that their favorite cfb team no longer exists.

The financially illiterate think that currency grows on trees. It's amazing.

HS coaches have been concerned this would happen from the start...

Burn it down and start over. College football has gotten too corrupt anyway.

You are probably right. Lay off the overpaid commissioners, athletic directors and reduce all head coach salaries to a max of 1 million and get back to just having real STUDENT athletes instead of Athlete students. Then you will have plenty of funds for all of the sports on college campuses.

Tweets coming out that Big 10 and Pac 12 will announce they are canceling tomorrow.

I can't believe it.

Believe it. The Big X has announced there will be no fb in 2020 a formal announcement will be made tomorrow. And within the next few hours the Pac XIl will be the next conference to cancel fb season. According to RJ Young the Big XII and the ACC are on the fence and the SEC is still trying for a fb season. I agree with why they are doing this safety takes precedent over everything but 2020 has become crazy.

This is utterly ridiculous. Canceling everything over a virus with a 99.5% survival rate. This world has gone mad with decisions like this, rioters, cancel culture, political correctness and the global warming caused by industrialism hoax.

99.5%???? The next pro or collegiate athlete who dies will be the first one - the "science" says 100% survival rate!! Common sense would say - the over 65 crowd should avoid going to live games. The diabetes/asthma/heart issue gang should watch from home. But common sense left us 5 months ago. And our conference is led by a follower - I expect Bowlsby to crown "10 true champions" this year.

Instead of players having strict guidelines of where they can and can't go by the coaches, and getting regularly tested, they will be released to make their own decisions. I don't see this going well for a bunch of players, not to mention the ones who will miss their opportunity of making it to the pros. Football is the best thing a bunch of these players have going for them and now it'll be taken away.

Football itself is more dangerous to the players than COVID is. Between broken bones, head injuries, heat exhaustion, etc.., COVID is probably the tamest.

I hope the schools are considering the unintended consequences that cancelling the football season will bring...

Just think of all the additional horseshit demands the athletes will be able to dream up while idle.

Note that I will walk that statement back if they are truly engaged in academic study...

Preach it MM!

The SEC will either be the only one left standing or the last to cancel. They'll earn the right to chanting, "Sec,sec, sec".
Dang it...

But. now there is a We Want To Play movement among the players some prominent players such as Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields. There's some TX players as well. tOSU voted to cancel but their coach says he wants to play. This isn't over.

Once a conference cancels a season, for any reason, all members are released from the gor regaurding their media obligations. Nebraska and tOSU are threatening to leave the B1G if the season is cancelled. They would join the B12 or SEC.

SEC also has asked Texas to join sec if b12 cancels season. This is getting good. Go Trump!

That is not going to happen in this or any other lifetime. Period.

Let's hope what little common sense still exists, that CFB isn't canceled. People have lost their damn minds over this weak virus.

I would wager that the school presidents fear lawsuits if some player or really anyone associated with a team were top become gravely ill. That's a real possibility if it did. It will be interesting to see if if we want to play gains any real momentum.

See above comment. This will come down to potential lawsuits vs we want to play. I hope we have a season.

See what comment? You stated tOSU wanted to cancel, that was reported on rumor earlier in the day but it was all complete bs as the majority of journalism is these days. Their president stated she would NOT VOTE TO CANCEL. And no, I disagree with your comment on lawsuits. Ohio State has already announced in person classes, if fear of lawsuits were the driver they wouldn’t allow 80,000 students on campus who won’t get anything close to the resources, testing, and medical care the players would. Is that driving other schools decisions? I don’t know but everyone at tOSU wants to play and clearly has same mentality as the SEC schools.

Thing is, no lawyer could definitively prove how, when or where a player contracted the virus. It's ridiculous that the economy was ever shut down in the first place.

Well if I'm wrong then there's a chance there will be a fb season after all. It's what everyone wants myself included. I see the MAC has canceled their season. A lot of those conferences may have to cancel their season in part I think because lost paychecks from playing P5 schools.

Welcome to 2020, where PGA golfers are stronger and tougher than College Football Players? PGA is playing their season, right? I thought the big tough guys played CFB.

Do not cancel CFB! I am just making an observation that golfers are playing but they are talking about canceling the tough sport of football.

Did we get hit with a nuclear upside down world bomb? Oh and it is 4:46am and OU Sucks!!

If college football and basketball are cancelled who's going to step up and provide funds for ALL the other non-revenue producing sports?

I just don't care anymore! Tired of worrying..anyway the fish are biting! Hook ya boats up and hit it! Good social Distancing!
