Last year about this time we all remember the scare we had with a potential suicide. Sadly enough we are now experiencing the tragic loss of HornsFan65, who is Bryce Byers, a 41-year old resident of Amarillo.
He leaves behind his wife, Lisa; Kaytlin, who is 20 with a baby on the way; Haley will be 18 on May 15th and is graduating in three weeks; Ethan just turned 12 on Easter.
I have been in constant contact with his wife since last year, and we spoke on Thursday morning. Sadly, she is the one who found Bryce dead in their home. Bryce did not have a will, assets, and insurance isn't covering his death. Many of you communicated to me a desire to help his family on Wednesday night and Thursday morning, and we will begin the official fundraising campaign now.
Ironically, the episode last year contributed greatly to the vision of starting the Orangebloods Covert Benevolence Foundation (OCBF) to allow for better vetting and to open an organic rapid response system for cases such as these. Many people donated last year to a GoFundMe account. GoFundMe rates are egregious. OCBF is much better suited with zero costs. Our aim was to create this vehicle so 100% of monies donated go directly to the family.
