He will need to lock in tight with the new OC. Is there a style of RB coaching that compliments the new O at TEXAS? Dig Deep needs to tear into this so I can learn and become fluent in RB coach speak...

The new OC and OL coach will teach the RBs the cut scheme and blocking.

RB is mostly talent based. An RB coach can stress nuances and missed assignments in games. But his main job is to recruit.

This. Look for someone who can help install the new offense.

Gut feeling is Traylor moves to RB coach and becomes recruiting coordinator, that way he can work his magic on the recruiting trail and have less on his plate with Specials.

They bring in another ex TEXAS HS coach as TE and Specials.

How about Tony Levine for the empty position (with Traylor as RB coach)? I read that he had some nice STs both as ST coordinator and HC at Houston. Too lazy to see how accurate that is at the moment.

I have no idea who the coaches are, but if we're looking at bringing in another HS coach to help in recruiting a certain area like Traylor did, I'm thing along the lines of Southlake Carroll and Katy. How far off am I?

That's what I was thinking--and throw money at him $$$

Those screaming lock Traylor up can rest a little easier. I've read most of Higdon's post NSD manifesto and much of Traylor's meteoric demand was planted stories for negative recruiting. Traylor was in no way going from HS head coach to whatever in a single year. I would infer Traylor knows spending a few years learning the ins and outs of college ball from this staff would be invaluable to whatever aspirations he has.

247 says former UT RB and present Toledo Rocket coach Anthony Johnson is interviewing. He was a QC asst. for Mack during the Colt era and the SHSU RB coach during their 2 I-AA NC appearances.

He has coached a RB that gained least 1,400 yards every season since 2011

Here's how Johnson's top RB each year has performed:

Sam Houston State:
2010 - Southland Newcomer of the Year
2011 - Southland Offensive Player of the Year
2012 - Southland Player of the Year and All American
2013 - Southland Player of the Year and All American

Toledo:
2014 - #3 in the country in yards per game
2015 - missed four games but still finished #5 in the MAC in yards and TDs

He should be able to recruit with previous experience as a txhs coach, UT staff, and SH staff. Plus once he learns Strong's recruiting way he should be fine.
I'd expect this guy to be our new RB coach
