What the hell were NFL teams, fans and media doing back in the 80s because it sure seems like the amount of care was wildly misplaced.
One of the best players I ever saw John Elway make was in 1989 (I think) when he made a throw across his body 60 yards for a completion while taking a huge shot in the 4th quarter... they were really trying to win the game at all costs that night.
Those old Governor's Cups against the Oilers seemed to really matter.
