Will the Big XII go 0 for 6 this bowl season? Sadly it's not out of the question.

KSU plays Navy in the Liberty Bowl. I have a hard time understanding why Navy is favored. KSU did beat OK and had a solid season with a rookie coach. Who did Navy beat? I guess the oddsmakers know things I don't know.

Then comes the Alamo Bowl the last day of the worst decade in the history of TX fb. To h*** with analysis. We'll end this decade the same way we started it. With a loss

Utah 28
TX 17

And the last Big XII bowl team is Baylor/ GA in the Sugar Bowl. This is the best matchup involving the Big XII. Now that Charlie Brewer has been cleared to play I give Baylor a good chance. The key to the game is can the Baylor ol keep CB upright? If they do than this should be one of the bowl games of the season.

I just have a bad feeling about this game and the reason why is the distraction of Tom Herman on the hiring of new staff.

I think if there were no coaching changes and TH/staff would have plenty of time to prepare for and beat Utah...as they have been very good in Bowl games previously.

I think Utah has been completely focused on Texas, and due to circumstance TH has not. I think that is the difference in this game.

Nonetheless, I will be wearing my burnt orange and hosting a Shiner Bock or 4 or 6 and yell Hook 'em Horns all night!!

I do wonder if simplifying things on defense and being healthy will help. The defense was good early when healthy but things fell apart quickly as injuries piled up and the replacements couldn't perform Orlandos complicated schemes. We were able to play some solid defense at the end of the year as guys got healthy and especially the last game when the defense seemed to be playing a more simple style.

Not sure what we will see on offense. Hopefully with time to prepare TH is able to realize how some of the players were misused. We have the weapons, can we weaponize them is the question.

I think it could go really bad today or really good. I have no idea what to expect out of us.

The way we have performed the last 2 years in bowl games leads me to believe Tom will have the team prepared. Will it be enough to beat Utah, probably not. The little bit I watched them play this year they had a pretty stingy defense. I think it will be a 1 score game though. Utah 30 Texas 24

Glad I didn’t take that 2nd mortgage and go to Vegas as suggested by someone.
There was no “pounding”.

Happy New Year everyone!
I hear you. I have no idea where this sort of play has been since the LSU game. I can only surmise that our OC and DC were out thinking themselves in ways that can't be explained. This was a polar shift in our team and it's approach to the game. We actually made adjustments at halftime that worked. We stayed disciplined and executed plays with crispness. This was the team that should have shown up every Saturday this year.

I think it just goes to show that this team is still a little ways away from being a playoff contender but not as far as some on here have claimed to be. Herman has proven that when given 3 plus weeks to prepare for a team he is as good of a coach as we thought he was when he was hired. Really looking forward to next year should be fun!

Michigan/Alabama game is good. Saban was more pissed than I have ever seen. Harbaugh sporting Schembechler style sunglasses.

Well, bama finishing the game like we all expect. Minnesota just put Auburn away. Man, I could have been way wrong on Fleck. We will see if he keeps it up a couple more years before deeming him a top notch coach.

that’s what they said about Urban Meyer at Bowling Green and Utah
Was it you that we had a back and forth? I was ragging on him to be too gimmicky. I can't remember. Meyer did it at Bowling Green, then again at Utah, before being a proven commodity, Similarly, if things continue, Fleck would have done it at W Mich and perhaps at Minnesota (still has a ways to go). Anyway, that would be a good comparison to see if blue blood material, but definitely not adorn him Meyer status.

Maybe, I can’t remember, lol, too much sleep since then. I am a big fan of Fleck though.

Utah was just a MWC team when they went undefeated. Fleck Won 11 games at Minnesota. Last time that happened was 1904. They won 10 in 2003. That’s the only other double digit win total since 1904.

The last time they only lost 2 games was 1967.

He may be a flash in the pan (I don’t think so) but he’s every bit as accomplished as Urban was coming out of Utah.

Fleck has had one good season as a head coach in the shit_y division of the Big 10, and still lost to the best two teams in that division: Iowa and Wisconsin.

And he has zero track record as an offensive or defensive coordinator either. He is very charismatic and may end up a success but we could look back in two years and he’s an afterthought.

That is how I felt. However, they did beat a decent Auburn team today. If he is consistent in 8-10 wins at Minnesota these next 2 years, I would imagine a blue blood program will be smart to pick him off. Too early to tell for me as of right now. I didn't expect him to even do this well thus far at Minn.

This right here. We clearly have the talent but it wasn't being used appropriately. Orlando couldn't get out of his own way and I think Herman couldn't focus on coaching offense while also having to deal with a defense going to crap. KISS and let the talent win out.

You’re right. 11 wins for the first time since 1904 isn’t worth a ****. My bad q1

You know who else had no track record as an OC or DC? Dabo.

You know who else beat everyone but the “good team” in their conference and had very little track record as an OC or DC? Mack

I find it funny q1 is so apologetic for Herman even though he has shown very little as a HC but is quick to dismiss a guy that led Weatern Michigan to their only double digit win season ever and 11 wins at a school for the first time in 115 years.

He may flop at a bigger school. But at 39 years old, to dismiss what he has done is utter nonsense.
