I haven't looked this far ahead until now, but I knew the Cotton Bowl was next Friday night, Jan 10. I assumed the other semi final would be on Saturday afternoon or night.
But the Orange Bowl is the same Friday at 12:30 Central. That means I won't be able to watch it, because I'm going to be pretty busy at work on the next couple of months, so taking the day off isn't an option (I would figure out how to make it work if Texas was in this game).
I guess there is really no way to avoid the NFL on a Saturday in January and they have to avoid going head to head with them at all costs....and that leads to a terrible time slot for one of the semi final matchups.
