Baylor is OK at football despite not deserving a spot in the Big 12 conference, but the Longhorns just own too many of the position-group matchups and will come in focused on continuing their hot streak. Expect to see the defense rebound against a good offense and the offense to keep things rolling against a puny little, well ... Baylor of a defense. The Bears get put in their place as a pathetic and disgraceful little step-brother who cheated his way into the family.

Which Texas shows up? Texas vs. ranked opponents? Texas vs. the trash on the schedule? I have to ask because the Longhorns are playing in a class trap game against a team that it is better than in every way a team can better than another. My hunch tells me we get a little bit of both and maybe a performance in the middle. I'm expecting a slowish start that might see us withness a close game for the first 30 minutes, but eventually separation will occur. The Texas run game will have its best day of the season with Keontay Ingram leading the way.

Coming off an emotional, draining win at the Cotton Bowl over rival Oklahoma, Texas will need to avoid a letdown this weekend against a Baylor team with one of the better offenses in the country (No. 22 in S&P + offense). The Bears have enough on offense to put up some points and hang around all game.

However, this might end up being the worst defense Texas plays all season. If the Longhorns arrive with the physicality and mindset they have for weeks now, they should be able to move the football with ease. But I do think that “if” will show at times for a team that’s in new territory as a top 10 team with five straight wins, and could see the effects of the OU game linger into Saturday in some ways.

This game is all about Texas not playing down to its opponent and avoiding a life-or-death game with a team it should easily defeat. Texas rose to the occasion against USC, TCU and Oklahoma, but struggled against Maryland, Tulsa and Kansas State. Like I have said before, style points do not matter, but Texas cannot afford to let Baylor hang around.

That being said, I believe Herman will push his players to give it their all before the bye week. The home crowd will energize this team, and I doubt Texas will just go through the motions this Saturday. I would not be surprised if Keaontay Ingram has a breakout game against Baylor.

Screw you, quarter.

Can Texas perform at a level similar to what was shown last week? Or will there be a significant step back that reflects the level of play against K-State two weeks ago. The guess here is that it’s somewhere in the middle.

Baylor’s defense is bad and Texas should be able to run the ball at will. I do expect the Bears to move the ball effectively at times and keep the game somewhat interesting, but Texas should be able to wear Baylor down over time.

Texas 35 – Baylor 24

Quarter (5-1)
(heads is always the home team)
