It's a must-win game for two teams that both have flaws, but I do believe Texas is the better team with the better athletes which is pointed in the far superior direction. However, the intangibles surrounding Kingsbury's job possibly being on the line brings the most out of his club and turns this thing into a back-and-forth nail-biter affair, just when you thought the indigestion from all the turkey and pie had worn off. Texas still pulls off the victory and keeps alive the possibility of an 8-win season.

Short and sweet - the better team playing at home wins.

Texas Tech is 1-5 in its last six games and while it’s still pretty solid offensively, it’s not the offensive juggernaut of most years. Defensively, the Red Raiders are a little better than they have been in past seasons, but it’s still a big weakness.

If Texas starts fast and puts some points on the board early, it’s hard to imagine Texas Tech putting up a big fight. It’s lacked life on the field for weeks, and the Longhorns will start well for a change. There’s no reason why the Longhorns shouldn’t move the ball and while Tech will generate an explosive play or two, the Longhorns are the better team playing at home with way more confidence.

My saying all year long has been "seeing is believing." After seeing Texas' offense look good against West Virginia - somebody needs to give thanks to Connor Williams - I do not expect any surprises against Texas Tech.

Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger may have a few freshman moments, but he does a great job of moving on after his mistakes. Ehlinger has never melted down, or played like a quarterback who needed to be pulled. He has a chance to lead Texas to its seventh win on Friday and maintain that momentum heading into next month's bowl game. I expect Daniel Young to rush for over 100 yards and not be surprised if Collin Johnson has a monster game - he is due for one of those.

In addition, this might be the last time Texas fans see Kliff Kingsbury coaching at Texas Tech. Kingsbury was a pretty boy who fielded ugly defenses every year. Unless his team can pull off a surprise win, this might be the last time Texas fans can poke fun at the man their wives adore.

Texas 45 - Texas Tech 24

It sounds like there will be a change at quarterback for Texas Tech, so that could certainly be a bit of a wildcard in this one. But regardless of if it’s McClane Carter or Nic Shimonek, this is a game Texas should win.

Tech will keep it close for a while, but Sam Ehlinger will play well enough that Texas will eventually wear the Red Raiders down in what will wind up being Kliff Kingsbury’s last game as Tech’s head coach.

Texas 31 – Texas Tech 24
