1. Last week played out perfectly for Texas to win this game. Talking heads and haters mouthing off, debating how bad it will be for Sark and Co. The universe has a way of making everyone wrong more often than everyone right.
2. On that same note… this secondary is taking some criticism for the first time all year. They are taking on a talented crew and there’s a lot of NIL and NFL money on the line. I expect those boys to rise to the challenge.
3. Will Howard is 0-3 against Texas. Of course with less talent, but put some early doubt in that kid’s head and he could really tighten up. He loses again and goes 0-4 against Texas, that will trump his entire year and become his CFB legacy.
4. Ohio State has the defense to do to Texas what Georgia did. Sark adjusted for the second match-up and called a great first half. A few unlucky penalties really kept Texas from taking a bigger lead into half. I expect a similar plan, with lots of deep shots, especially on 3rd downs. Sark loves to get DBs to bite on the out at the 1st down marker, and then turn it up. That was Mitchell’s role last year, has been Golden since Bond has been dinged up.
5. I still feel like Ewers would prefer to go pro than tarnish his Longhorn legacy by transferring so another QB can play. His play down the stretch last week was exactly what he needed on film for the draft and to loosen him up for this one. I believe we see him build upon the heater he ended on.
6. If this whole OLine wants to go pro, go make your money against a pro front seven.
7. Sark may have to give up on his balanced attack and abandon the run for long stretches. That being said… I got Blue breaking a long one late on a surprise draw on 3rd and long. That drive gives Texas life.
8. Texas’ D has ended quite a few last hopes with a turnover. Kentucky, Arky, Aggy, almost Georgia in SEC title game, and ASU. I got Jahdae ending this one with a brilliant read due to ample film study.
9. Ohio State goes full on Narcissus this week after their 34-0 start against Oregon and becomes obsessed with their own reflection, writing their own Greek tragedy.
10. A hot Quinn, a motivated and vicious defense and SEC title first half Sark puts Texas up 17-14 at half. OSU takes the lead on opening drive of second half and kicks a FG to make it 24-17 OSU early in the 4th. Quinn leads a money drive, highlighted by a 30 yard run by Blue on 3rd and 9. Texas ties it up. OSU fails on 4th on the next drive, Quinn then leads a short drive that ends with a Bert Auburn FG FROM THE LEFT HASH. Barron seals it with a pick of Howard. 27-24, Texas. LFG!
