A grim anniversary — one night in July 1918, the deposed Czar Nicholas and his wife Alexandra, their five children — Olga, Tatiana, Maria, Anastasia, and Alexey and their housekeeper — were awakened in the middle of the night in the house in Central Russia in which they were confined, taken to the basement, and murdered by drunken Communist soldiers under orders from Lenin and his henchmen. The czar was shot multiple times and died quickly, but the children had to be clubbed and bayoneted to death when shooting failed to do the trick. Their bodies were dumped down a mineshaft.

So began Communism’s murderous 20th Century rampage that ultimately cost tens of millions of lives. Not sure our youth these days fully grasp that horrific history.

Mick does:

“I stuck around St. Petersburg
When I saw it was a time for a change.
Killed the czar and his ministers,
Anastasia screamed in vain.

Pleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name, oh yeah
Ah, what's puzzling you
Is the nature of my game, oh yeah.”
