My daughter is a senior in advertising in Moody. She is a driven student with a 3.7 GPA. She made the deans list last semester.

She has still not had a semester where at least half of her classes weren’t online. Last spring, she had an upper level advertising class taught by an undergrad. A student stood and read the profs notes. Apparently, the prof was teaching a different class at the same time. She never laid eyes on the actual prof.

This semester, she is in Foundations of finance in order to complete a business foundations minor.

The university has moved all of the business foundation classes to an asynchronous online format. Lectures are posted online for you to watch at your leisure. There is no opportunity to ask questions, meet people in your class, or speak with a professor before or after class. They offer a “workshop” class with a TA, but it is offered at the same time as one of her other classes.

She is struggling in this class and failed the first exam. I encouraged her to email the professor and the TA and ask what else she can do to be successful.

Does anyone have any better advice? Happen to know a tutor for Foundations of finance…

TL:DR
Online classes suck.
