OT: Are Northwest Florida beaches more dangerous than those on the Texas coast?

Beaches all along the NW Florida shore including Destin, Santa Rosa, and Seaside, all closed for several days running due to rip tides/rip currents. Don’t recall that happening on the Texas coast. Are there certain features of the Florida beaches that make them more dangerous than those in Texas like Port A or South Padre?
