Does anyone else follow Judicial Watch? They are big on exposing the Obama administration's role in Russia, Russia, Russia. Newest thing is the creation of Texas A&M Quatar. Apparently with $1billion of Quatari government money. 900 graduates so far.

Here's what went down:

The government in Qatar at one point, realized it was important to keep some of their smart kids from leaving by having a place for them to get educated in engineering and hopefully stay in country and use the education to help build the economy. This was in 2003. Then everything in the middle east goes to complete sh!t.

Fast forward 16 years and there are different people in positions of power in Qatar and very bad men that were run out of Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria-- sought haven in Qatar. There have been some really fvcked up situations that have gone down in Qatar that the media doesn't cover---- and plenty of things they don't even know about. Regardless, Qatar has been the catch all for a number of bad people and the US has been running ops into Qatar quite frequently (comparatively speaking) and trying to flush out the bad elements.

Well, if you're a terrorist, you need a constant supply of fresh bodies to continue waging your war--- so you've got to recruit. Who better to recruit than engineering students. Engineers know how to design stuff and take things apart, right? Engineering students make hellacious bomb builders too.

So these bad guys have been recruiting out of this campus. Some congressman that sits on the house Intel committee sees a memo saying that a couple of engineering students from this campus got swept up in a raid where they were found hanging out with some really hard core dudes, and this congressmen then starts digging into the campus and finds out that "some" of the money run through the school came from bad guys. Honestly more dirty money is run weekly through the Catholic Church but that's another story.

So because of this influx of bad people pouring into Qatar, the kids/students (some of them) are swept up in the movement and end up suiting up for the bad guys. Those few idiots landed on our radar and when we looked at their back story, it turns out they studied at this campus. So then the school comes under scrutiny and after looking long and hard enough, this congressman has found "some" dirty money that flowed into the campus. Couple that with Qatar powerbrokers funding terrorists and recruiting out of the campus and it ends up being not a good look.

I don't usually defend aggy but I can assure you that no aggy in their right mind would support a campus that supports terrorism. The whole "antisemitic" argument is just to gin up support because it's a buzzword. It's the middle east--- pretty much everyone is antisemitic.

News to me. Thanks

Back in 2013 I had a month long stint in Qatar. My wife went to A&M and I thought it would be great to go up to the campus and get her a hat or shirt. It was really eerie. There are TONS of buildings but no people. I’ll note that Qatar has a couple of US University affiliates. I want to say Michigan State has a campus there too?

No sir not Michigan state, but you were close--- Northwestern has a campus. As does VCU and Georgetown. Carnegie Mellon has one as well. It's really sad because they were cracking out some nice numbers of kids that could actually help their country, but now---- not as much.

And FIFA is talking about boosting the World Cup from 32 to 48 nations in 2022 in Qatar. What a freaking joke.

Is that a nightmare waiting to happen Clob?

Highly doubt the terrorist want to embarrass the Qatar government by doing something stupid, I'm sure in the days leading up to the WC, there is going to be a major crack down of dudes who have too many parking tickets.

Where's @GuaranteedFresh! at?

I know there are layers and layers of host country security as well as private security that coordinate and implement a plan in order to prevent such events from happening.
Now I know that from time to time there are elements of DSS that are involved if it's in a foreign country and there are American diplomats or dignitaries attending the event. Fresh can no doubt tell you if any tier 1 elements ever get embedded to augment the personal protection detail of dignitaries or if there is actionable Intel suggesting there is an imminent attack or HVT in the area planning an attack.

Ask fresh about the guys that used to roll with Adm McRaven as his security detail. The driver was the biggest human being I've ever seen.

I didn't mean to imply terrorists. From what I've read on here, coupled with the fact Qatar is tiny and there will be 48 nations with all those fans...seems like a disaster.

The Dynamics of Qatar is very unique to say the least. Big money has a way of bringing opposing views together in a mutual truce that although corrupt, works out for everyone involved.
Qatar depends on stupid rich foreign businessmen therefore any terroristic activity would put a black eye right where it would hurt the most.
So, you jihadi brothers will get funding while we turn a blind eye as long as you don't touch our golden goose. Scare the goose and you are eliminated.
The only danger at the world cup will be from rabid fans and not terrorist. But...anything can happen anywhere nowadays.
Security will be insane, from all nation's including sponsored and closed door directed from Uncle Sam.
Yes Clob, there will surely be plenty of special assignments involved in a major international gathering. There always is, in some capacity or another.

Honestly, that is what scares me the most. That many people from that many different places in such a small area.

There will be logistical nightmares, no doubt. First of all the fact that Qatar was even in the conversation to host the world Cup shows you how corrupt FIFA is from top to bottom. It's like the United Nations putting Iran, Sierra Leon and Libya as the heads of the humanitarian council.

You see, they believe "troubled" nations will RISE to the occasion and flourish if given something so sacred to be in charge of.

I call it "rewarding bad behavior". I guess we have different political ideologies.
