Was it about Austin BBQ or just BBQ in general. This is a post about the actual places within Austin.

I know we've discussed Lockhart and places outside of Austin but I don't think a discussion of what is in Austin has ever occurred.

I've never had it but have friends that vouch for it. You can bring your own brew right?

Correct. It's definitely a fun environment. Great for those out-of-towner/non-Texan guests who probably won't appreciate the difference between good-to-great BBQ and mediocre BBQ. But if we're strictly talking about the quality of the BBQ itself, it's several rungs below the best in the area.

If you want the best..their is little place behind the HEB in Llano that has some that will make you go mad if you don't mind driving for the good stuff.

There is a shuttle bus leaving

Travel to Lexington on a Saturday morning. Snow's rivals Franklin's IMHO. But get there early, cause when the food is gone, it's gone.

Opinions about BBQ, beer, etc are all subjective and are a matter of personal preference. Everyone has different tastes. It doesn't make one person's opinion wrong and another's right.

I just always found the meats at SL to be weirdly wet and kind of bland. And try as I might, I can’t do that sweet mustard sauce. Ambience is fun with a group though, and I think that’s worth something.

I have no problem with going with a group and taking a cooler but with their open pit style they don't make my top 10 in Central Texas,

You’ll think I’m crazy but I tried the brisket in the new HEB in Killeen (195) and let me tell ya it was dang good.

Yep. Open-pit BBQ will never compare with the best.
