Last week, Save Austin Now sued the city over their disqualification of legally signed petitions by Austin residents. That fight will take several months -- but they are committed to fighting it.
But in order to put reinstatement of the camping ban on the May 2021 ballot, a second pathway is needed to qualifying for the ballot. Today they announced a parallel effort to qualify for the next ballot. There is going to being a second petition collection effort.
Last year 24,500+ signed petitions were collected over 148 days. Beginning now, they are starting over from zero -- as required by the city, and are aiming to collect 30,000+ signed petitions by Jan 12. The ballot language deadline for the May 2021 ballot is February 12.
If you signed it before, you need to sign it again. If you did not sign before, Please! they need you to sign this time. Only Austin residents who are registered voters can sign.
If you would like the petition to be emailed to you as a pdf, please email matt@saveaustinnow.com. You can request here: https://form.jotform.com/200864088436157
You can also donate to offset the cost of the lawsuit, and mailing the petitions. http://www.SaveAustinNow.com
