OT: Dammit, I love this country

The human record is like 9 minutes 45 seconds. The over-all record is something like 37 seconds. Barnum and Bailey was in town and they fed a raw steak to their Bengal tiger.

Organic food has NO advantages. It's just more expensive because organic agriculture is less efficient.

If I can't pronounce it or spell it in a spelling bee, I ain't going to eat it. To each his own, but I'd rather spend a little extra and get something made with real ingredients than one filled with chemicals.

Its funny from the 1900 till organic came into play, everyone lived the same as they do now, just plain old simple living and dying, think of them old settlers not eating cause they couldn't find any Organic food to eat on the Oregon Trail or them WW2 soldiers not having C rats to eat cause they didn't have any Organic C rats , I wonder if the men at the Alamo would not eat the beans and tortillas cause they wasn't made from Organic flour? Its like Tx and MM says "Mo money".

The funny thing about the old timers is they were the original "organic" crew. Back on the Oregon trail, there weren't the mass produced farms, nor the chemicals and such used now. I agree that organic=better for you line is complete BS, but think its hilarious when the oldtimers talk like that isn't the exact same thing they grew up on.

You've taken the bait and swallowed it. Non-organic food isn't "filled with chemicals". I never buy any of that "organic" BS and I'm just fine. It's a load of garbage and just a way for suppliers to jack up the prices on veggies, meats, etc.

This is true, my grandparents grew up eating vegetables from the garden raised their own meat. No hormones or pesticides in their dinners.

My grandparents had a big garden about a half acre of everything and , no problems with anything, he milk every morn and put in Ice box and it was good and cold, it was diff milk than what they serve today, it tasted better and them brown eggs you pay 4 a doz for , my grandma sold them for a dollar a doz, we picked eggs all over the damn place and she never had 1 doz left by end of the day, Good Old Rhode Island Reds hens and the hogs rolled in the mud in the pens till bacon time and everything stopped on Sat when my Grandpa put on the Yankees with Micky and Yogi and Joe Pepitone and Whitey Ford and the boys

I am old now and you ask me what I loved about my life was times like this ....

Consumption of beef correlates positively with death rates. Not as much as pork does, but significantly more than chicken or fish. Pork consumption is only slightly worse than beef consumption, for our health, and much worse than chicken, which is worse than fish. Eating shellfish and bottom-feeding fish is a different story.

It doesn't mean that I would turn down a steak, if offered to me, but I'm not going to go out of my way to eat one.

Sugar consumption is dangerous, too, but there's no way I could get myself to cut my sugar more than I have already. I guess if my doctor said I had diabetes, I'd have to. My goal is to avoid that.

Organic food varies in its healthfulness. Organic milk can be dangerous, e.g. But non-organic produce have lower levels of nutrients and even taste. If you don't believe that, taste-test tomatoes and bananas some time. Organic bananas are slightly more expensive, but far more delicious. Even their "strings" are tasty.

GMO is just a bad road. We're losing non-GMO alternatives thanks to Monsanto, etc.

And consider the impact on the environment of the pesticides & non-organic fertilizers, the GMOs, the loss of insect species, etc... You're kidding yourself if you think we've improved things for our descendants. I guess we're less likely to die of mosquito-born parasites or diseases. We've got the Internet & cell phones & GPS. And data on high school sophomores & juniors for recruiting junkies. Overall, though, we've screwed things for them.

It was a Diff time and diff world, our descendants have mad their own as we made ours, the old DR took their time to hear ya out and make some great advice on what to do and was pretty much right all the time, now when the new Drs laptop bell rings , your ass is outa there, your 15 is up, by the way my Dr and me still eat BBQ as we heard it causes Cancer by our descendants medicine standards...lol

You do realize that in since 1990 the FDA opened the flood gate in allowing companies to put whatever kind of poison they wanted in foods.

I avoid at all costs anything with high fructose corn syrup and anything with MSG.

It's interesting to see how obese this country has gotten since the introduction of these two products into American diets.

Germany has a people who actually eat worse than we do as far as fatty foods go, yet they are not nearly as obese ase Americans are. This is because they have banned many chemicals that we allow including MSG and High Fructose corn syrup.

The reason I eat organic foods is I know I can trust they don't have these chemicals in them.

Some people keep breaking the rules and somehow keep beatin' the odds. Or they have so far, anyway. Doctors who smoke. Obese people who keep stuffing themselves with fast food. It's like playing chicken. Eventually it's going to catch up with you.

Apparently driving in Russia is more hazardous to your health than anything fast food restaurants can throw at ya here.

I was just about to say---- many of those videos have Cyrillic license plates in them.
At some point did you get to go to driving at the O'Neil school? i heard a rumor that Morgan Luttrell took great pleasure during his time there, in completely fvcking up every vehicle he was charged with operating. Like it was his goal. SUV? Roll it. Sedan? Find an object to smash into. Oh and btw, you dudes that have had that training, are the WORST fvcking back seat drivers in the history of man kind. I was driving through phoenix with a car load of those guys and the fvcking former recon MARSOC guy who then went to DSS was sitting in the back and commenting so much I finally pulled the fvcking rig over got out and told him to drive.

So....... Was it fun?

So many rhetorical questions. Is it fun to completely dog out various vehicles all in the name of training!? Yeah man, high speed reversing and J hooks are a blast. Ramming......not so much. You feel that chit for a few days after.
No matter how much you beg, they won't let you in their rally cars though. Apparently that's only for y'all rich folk.

Back seat driving is a fine art demonstrated early in life by dad then perfected in front passenger seat when wifey has the wheel. Graduation will occur in a few yrs after finals. (Daughter getting a license)

One of those guys must be a very close bud of yours because you know a lot of details that most people have no clue about. Things that don't make it to the movies and rarely talked about outside inner circles.
Must be more to your story after UT.
P Sec or merc potentially.

Driving in Russia is scary as hell. I was walking down the sidewalk on Novy Arbat with my daughter, When a car drives by on the same sidewalk. They're allowed to drive on the sidewalks there.

When I was in Barnaul Russia, I was riding the bus when the bus driver takes a shortcut, through the woods. Literally he turns off the road and drives through the woods and not on a trail that I could see, dude was dodging trees left and right.

You know that the entire universe is made of chemicals? The most carcinogenic substance I know of is aflatoxin. Produced by a fungus that likes corn and peanuts. Bruce Ames, inventor of the Ames test says that there is no difference in carcinogenicity between "natural" and synthetic compounds.

You might not survive but you also might! It's probably worth it. Just eat this steak, then go on a 544 mile Sydney to Melbourne ultra marathon. The inagural race was won by a 61 yr old man who ran those 544 miles in 5 days 15 hours. hot dog!

Could be. How about cleanin' your gun?
I'll be honest with you, I'm not sure exactly what direction you were going with that.

Should I be laughing at Porky's style humor, at myself because I'm a vet, at the comment because it's a 2A dig, or should I be offended and write your name on the wall?

None of the above?

I hosted 2 european exchange students for a year. One Dutch. one Spanish. Both varsity tennis players. The dutch boy said early on, "we don't eat as much as Americans." They called America "the land of the endless refill." Europeans walk a lot more than Americans because they have to. Each boy gained 15 lbs that year in spite of playing tennis about 20 hours/week. My sister lives in Frascati, on the outskirts of Rome. No drive thrus, get out and walk. Also no handicapped parking, no ramps. Italians think it unclean to have toilets and eating on the same floor, so it's always up or down stairs to pee.
