Houston Texans trading Hopkins to Cardinals or Dallas Cowboys franchise tagging Prescott?

Way to go O’Brien, you fvcked the team up again.

MM-Before you go off and start saying trashy things about our organization, I did it for you. I’ll bite my tongue on the Cowboys.

Unfreaking believable.

Was Hopkins a locker room issue? Cause this seems pretty one sided. Surely there is another issue involved.

O'Brien is an idiot, but a perfect fit for the Texans, lol. Rumor was the Cards were going to cut Johnson at some point. Also rumored was that O'Brien didn't like Hopkins missing practice in the past. He seems to have it in for players that he doesn't like and runs them off at some point. How do you trade arguably a top three receiver for a dime a dozen RB, whose best days are probably behind him? Also, Hopkins was due for a new contract that would have eaten up a lot of cap space. The Texans have a cap problem. Yes, they're $50M under that cap, but with what it's going to take for them to sign Watson and Tunsil, that eats that up. Plus, they're screwed in the next couple of years draft-wise with what O'Brien has given up in trades to go all in and win now.

I think that the Cowboys should have paid Dak now and not franchised him. It's going to cost them more for him down the road once Watson and Mahomes sign their deals. The going rate for a decent QB these days is $30 to $38 M a year. It is what it is.

I am not sold on Dak and there is a reason why they cowboys are doing what they are doing, he is not Mahomes caliber or even Wilson quality. We shall see how this folds out. But with Byron Jones gone it will open up so money.

I knew I should of brought up Cooper cause he just got paid 5 years 100 million. Bye bye Dak?

I'm glad that the Cowboys kept Coop. To sign Dak is a complicated decision. If you let him walk, who are you going to get to play QB? There isn't much to choose from as far as free agent QB's (Brady and Rivers, who are short term options), and it would cost way too much to move up in the draft this year. I think that they pretty much have no choice but to pay Dak.

I know they needed a tackle but I hated the Tunsil trade from the start. Two 1st round picks for a guy you'll have to soon re-sign? They have no choice but to pay him, his agent will know this and they will have zero leverage. Tunsil can take them for every penny and there's really nothing Houston can do about it.

Exactly. The Texans should have insisted on a contract extension for Tunsil before the trade was completed. He's got them over a barrel now. They have no choice but to pay him exactly what he wants. This is another example of how dysfunctional the Texans organization is.

If there was a year to pick a QB I'd probably say this was the year. Same for WR. Why keep an expensive one when you can get a young talented one with a high draft pick for a cheap rookie contract.

I personally would trade Dak and either move up for a young QB or see who drops. Same for the Texans and Wr.

What qb would you take? Not Hurts. Burrow would be great but won’t happen. Tua?

You’d trade a proven top 5 WR in the NFL for an unproven WR out of college? BOB is that you?

Trading a WR that has proven no matter the QB he will give you consistency.

2 Dysfunctional, poorly run franchises

1 Will have to fire the idiot in charge

1 Will have to wait for him to die

The dysfunction will not stop with the Texans if they fire O'Brien. They have a culture issue. Things won't get better until the McNair's sell the team. While the Cowboys have their issues, I'd still take Jones over McNair all day long. I'm encouraged by the hiring of Mike McCarthy.

Agree. I’d take Jones right now over all the McNairs.

The Cowboys screwed up not biting th bullet and paying Dak. While I don’t think he is elite it would be crazy to say he has reached his ceiling at this point. He improved his footwork and mechanics a lot this past year. McCarthy is gonna do more with Dak in a year than the red head did in 4 years with him.

The Texans in the other hand traded their quarterbacks number 1 weapon for a 28 year running back that hasn’t eclipsed 1000 yards since 2016. The Texans are the biggest losers thIs offseason with that move alone.

I think that Tua will be better than Burrow. Also like Jake Browning from Washington.

The kid from Washington is my choice, QBs from big time systems don't tend to pan out in the NFL.

Don't care about his stats, you have to pay him and that is a major cap hit on a position that can be filled by a guy on a rookie contract. Too many good Wrs available right now to have to over pay for one.

You don’t care about his stats? Weird but ok. There’s a reason why everyone in the NFL is shocked about this trade. 1 we should’ve got a lot more for him if you trade a high caliber player like Hopkins and 2 you just let go of your proven WR1. BOB didn’t let him go because of money. He traded him because he’s an arrogant prick with no true wins to back it up. He’s a shitty coach and even a worse GM.

Well, the Cowboys already designated Dak with an exclusive franchise tag, so he isn't going anywhere. He can either sign it for one year, or sit out this season. I think trading up to get Tua would be very expensive.

I would love to hear the thought process that brought you to this conclusion.

What more would you want me to say? Surely you don't think otherwise that the Texans organization is dysfunctional? If so, you're one in the few Texans fans that would feel that way. It IS a culture issue with them, and O'Brien fits their culture. Maybe that's why they haven't fired him. Say what you want about Jerry Jones, but the man has three Super Bowl rings, and he wants to win, unlike the McNairs, who seem to be ok with mediocrity and just making a profit. Houston deserves better than the Texans.

If I was Dallas I would get Burrows no matter what the cost as I see him as another Troy Aikman! Plus he throws the ball with precision and speed, we need to get back to the old days and sign the best, not no half assed players and we will start winning Super Bowls, KC paid good for theirs but, it was worth it

The Texans are very dysfunctional. There coach is an asshet and I can't wait for him to be fired. However, Jones I'd the epitome of dysfunctiinal and I wouldn't want him anywhere near any of my teams.

Bob McNair was a very rich guy that knew nothing about football and never found a football guy to run his organization. He made one bad decision after another.

Jones was a very rich guy that knew nothing about football, but thinks he knows everything about everything. He hired a HOF head coach and won back to back SBs. He then fired that coach for getting to much credit. Was able to squeeze of another SB with that team and hasn't won jack shite since. Just because you won something a quarter of a century ago, doesn't mean you aren't dysfunctional now.

In the last decade, the Texans have 6 division titles, won 4 playoff games, and have 7 winning seasons. Dallas has 3 division titles, won 3 playoff games, and has 4 winning seasons.

Remember when Mike Ditka traded his entire draft, plus a 1st and 3rd rounder the following year to move up for Ricky Williams? Well, that's probably what it would cost Dallas just to get Cincy to answer the phone on a possible trade up to the #1 spot. It's not going to happen.

Even if he is the next Troy Aikman, part of what made the 90s Cowboys great was Jimmy Johnson's approach to the draft, trading back and loading up on draft picks. He stacked that roster with a ton of talent. The amount it would cost to land Burrow wouldn't be worth it for the team long term.

No the thing that made Jimmy great was the Herschel Walker trade. It will be hard to ever see a trade as good as that was. They ended up with 2 HOF guys in Emmitt and Darren Woodson out of those draft picks.

Remember how everyone was wondering how Ehlinger would do without LJH? Remember how Duverney was a fantastic replacement. turns out it was the QB much more than the WR. If you can improve other areas of the team and still have a productive WR, then a move like this makes a lot of sense. The name of the game in the NFL is where do you want o put you resources.

Dude I just showed you stats that you didn’t care about that proves he’s top 5 WR with shitty QBs. Only recent has he had a good QB. I think we’re going to disagree on this. It was a dumb trade in my book.

Hopkins, who is usually pretty humble, couldn’t help but acknowledge he deserves credit for passing that milestone with guys like Ryan Mallett, Tom Savage and T.J. Yates throwing him the ball. Hopkins even name drops Brock Osweiler and Brandon Weeden, which draws some laughs in the press room. Though it came off as an insult, Hopkins is being sincere in thanking those players. As Hopkins notes, “I can’t throw the ball to myself.”

Are any of those QBs still in the NFL? The trade was atrocious and feels like BOB wasn’t looking to fill in with actual talent.
