OT: Fathers Day

Steve Wariner was one of the most underrated country singers back in the late 80’s, early 90’s. Loved him. Went to see him every chance I could at a dance hall right outside San Antonio on I-35 called the Bluebonnet Palace. His show brought in the tail.
When I worked at IBM plant here in Austin in ‘92, I was lucky enough to be on the committee to pick the music talent for the annual picnic. He was on the list for options. I pushed for him, got him booked. He was the nicest guy to meet.
The stage was set up in the plants park. That park is now The Domain.

Happy Father's Day, gentlemen. My sincere respects to all of you. I hope yall like this video as much as I do. I remember when country music videos were new in the late 80s when I was in college and I liked this video from the first time I saw it. I lost my father late last year. He had immigrated to the Texas Panhandle as part of the Bracero program in the late 50s to fill the agricultural labor shortage.

My family and I are going to Saltgrass for lunch for Father's Day tomorrow. It'll be the first Father's Day without my dad and my kids, "Pa". We're going to miss him so much.

My mom is a great cook. We all had many, many meals together at that dining room table at my parents house. I told my mom that the end place at the table where my dad always sat, should be empty. I want to honor his memory by no one sitting in that seat when we eat.

That chair will be always hard to fill MM!
