My son-in-law's family is hoping to find a new home their dog Huck. Read below their post on social media to learn why. If you are interested, please send me a DM and we can arrange a meeting for you to see Huck. They live in Austin, Texas.

This is Huck, a 5ish year old border collie mix who we are looking to rehome due to his unpredictable behavior. We have had behavioral issues with Huck ever since bringing home our twin babies last summer. He was anxious before, but his anxiety has increased over the last year, and he has become more aggressive. We had an incident last week in which he injured another dog and bit my father while he tried to get him off of that dog. We cannot risk having him around our toddlers anymore.

This has been such a hard decision because he is such a loyal and sweet dog. Day to day, he just wants to be close to us and is the best snuggle buddy. We are hopeful that he can find a new home without any other pets or small children. Huck has a prescription for anxiety medication for stressful events (car rides, vet visits, grooming, etc.) that we will refill and pass along to his new owners. He is also micro chipped and we will transfer ownership.

He has never had an accident inside. He is not crate trained. He was rescued from an abandoned apartment and we found that the crate caused him too much stress. He does well being left out in our home.

We have reached out to the rescue we got him from and a couple of border collie rescues in Texas, but we wanted to post to be proactive in finding the right fit for him.

Some other info about Huck:

He is neutered.

He is up to date on vaccinations, his last vet appointment was 7/13/24.

Behavior with dogs: He is often aggressive. He is reactive while on a leash. We have a lab that he has bonded with, but he tries to herd her and hump her when he is overwhelmed or anxious.

Behavior with cats: He tries to hunt them.

Behavior with kids: He demonstrates warning signs of aggression (ears back, panting, hard stare). He has not hurt a child and has done fine around older kids.

We have had him since September 2021 and are truly heartbroken to part with him. Please reach out with any questions or if you or someone you know might be a good fit for him.

We're asking for a rehoming fee of $50 or proof of donation to Austin Animal Shelter/negotiable.
