A few years ago, I would say this was spot on. Now, I feel it is the opposite and the conservatives are the ones actually being hunted down by the Left. The riots, the police being assassinated with videos of people being happy about it, the big tech censoring conservatives, the Soros backed District Attorneys not prosecuting rioters or letting them go free, the No Bail Policy in NY and Liberal cities, the Dems threatening stacking the Court and statehood for Puerto Rico and DC to control the Senate for eternity, the Dems supporting Socialism, the Dems wanting to get rid of Oil and Gas with their demonic Green New Deal, and of course the media supporting all of the above. I pray for our Country that the Dems back away from Socialism but there are many who think AOC is so cute, hip, and wonderful but are ignorant of the evils of Socialism she preaches.
There will be a Civil War before those things happen. Heck, 6 dudes in Michigan got arrested for plotting to kidnap the Michigan governor and make her stand trial for treason. Frankly I wish they got away with it. However, if they did then it would have been fuel to the liberal fire that the Right is so dangerous.
I'm convinced there is going to be straight up fighting in the streets just like in Ukraine. There will be no battle lines as they will be in every street in every city. Hell is going to rule 2021.

What those clowns did was stupid. We all have different lines of demarcation when it comes to the definition of a "tyrannical government". It says in the declaration of independence this---

Now, a "long train of abuses" could be any of the illegal acts our government has subjected us to. Be it confiscating our emails, texts and phone messages illegally through the Patriot act and now through NSA surveillance for 18 years-- a clear violation of the 4th amendment and a punishment of death in my eyes-- or it could be the government forcing healthy people that don't need or want health care to purchase it or be fined for not doing so. This is the land of the free and I'm not supposed to be forced to do anything I don't want to do so long as I'm not HARMING anyone else physically. An argument can be made that income tax is unconstitutional via taxation without representation. As I have never voted, I do not have accurate representation in my government at the federal level.
The point is, at what point do you draw the line with your oath and responsibility as an American to follow these guidelines lain forth by the people that founded us, and at what point do you cower?
Do you come to the realization that being forced to wear a mask may seem like it's for the "greater good" but in reality is an encroachment on your freedoms? Is that enough to make you forcefully over throw a government? What about executions in the street by government agents? Is that enough to make you overthrow your government? As I hear it, the current administration "killed" 225,000 people. So why if this is so true, are lynch mobs not being formed and the powers that be rounded up and executed? Is it because you really don't believe that or you're really too afraid to do it?

What does China have to do with the president's handling of this crisis, other than to blame them for his own grossly inadequate response. He did not cause COVID, but I do blame him for his refusal to acknowledge the problem for political reasons early on when it could have saved thousands of lives.

The "experts" estimated that 2.25-2.5 million people would die in this country. So. By that rationale-- 10% of that is still an A minus. And we all get it, you're still upset that your girl lost so one death would have been one too many. But I ask you this, the same "experts" at the WHO are now saying that closing down economies was NOT the answer to this because global poverty will now DOUBLE as a result of the reaction by global leaders. So what's worse? MeeMaw and PawPaw dead, or millions more falling into abject poverty and dying of secondary or tertiary causes?
If you hate Trump just admit that there's zero way he could have handled this to your liking and we will call it a day. Lockdowns have been a nightmare as well. The blowback POTUS received when he stopped travel was about PAR. For his many faults, putting all blame on the federal government for covid is weak.
Quick questions:
1) Who or what ridiculed Trump for stopping flights to/from China?
2) What/when was Trump's second step?
3) What experts predicted 2.25 - 2.5 million US deaths and when?
4) What scoring system is being used to calculate an A- for Trump's reaction as it relates to the current number of deaths?
5) Is the WHO's opinion as it relates to COVID-19 acceptable again and if so when that change?
6) Does every argument about death tolls have to claim only the elderly and/or pre-existing victims are ripe for the taking and is it that big of a deal relative to everyone else's economic viability?
7) Does a person have to use hyperbole to make a stickman argument?
I don't think Trump was horrible but he missed the mark on some of this. I only pose these questions for some perspective and because I respect the hell out of your common sense and real life knowledge. Trump could have done better (no question), he did some things really well (and didn't get credit across the board), and this temporary place in time has more cards to play. I don't know I am just tired of the inability to disagree now a days without a knock down drag out event. I'll finish my Lonestar(s) for the night and call it an evening.

Well the good thing is that nowhere near 200K people haven't died from Covid in the US. That is the nunber of every person in this country that contracted Covid and died.

From first of April, I've been talking about mental health being an issue, alcoholism, drug use, depression, domestic abuse, etc. I didn't see one single freaking "leader" of this country even bring them up. All I saw was, well if you disagree with the lockdowns you "hate grandma." I even made a post here about it several months ago. The lockdowns were a complete freaking disgrace, and the bleeding hearts will forever ignore it.
Weevil you identified my number one concern, mental health, especially for younger adults and children. It is a different world and proper growth requires interaction with others...at least occasionally. To answer your question, I think a more compromised approach could have (still could) provide a better common ground to protect elderly without neutering the younger population.
No matter what anyone did or didn't do, the virus was going to virus. Anyone thinking it could have been prevented is not being truthful with themselves. Every free country has had the same problems and is finding out that this will continue to run through the world until there is a certain level of immunity.
