OT: Lil' Kim and North Korea Question for the group

Guinea pig is one name, I prefer "useful idiot". But you are correct. The reason I call North Korea, "Best" Korea is because Lil' Kim constantly espouses about North Korea is the best of the two Korea's. Sarcasm.

Honestly I don't think anything will come of Kim or his lawn darts.
I was wondering why you referred to them as "Best" Korea. Now I know

Some thoughts about not just North Korea but the Korean Peninsula as well. Just two weeks ago,July 27 to be exact, was the 64th anniversary of the armistice. As we all know there was no peace treaty.

Imo, it's not about using nukes on the USA. Yes that's part of it, but not all of it. Imho, part of this about making sure that the Kim familily maintains its hold over NK. This guy is the third generation Kim.

NK will never stop trying to unite the Korean Peninsula under North Korean rule. This is their ultimate goal. I really think this is what they want most of all.

For the last 64 years the NK people have been indoctrinated to hate the Americans. So much so that NK defectors can't believe that it was NK that started the Korean war. Seriously. I wouldn't put it past them to invade SK damn the consequences.

That's what scares me most. The only business that thrives in NK is the military. It's no secret to the world that people are starving, people are in prison camps. They're the lucky ones others are being executed. I can see them desperate enough to invade SK. if that happens, something the world fears would happen WW3. The Korean Peninsula could suffer irreparable damage. Japanwould be in grave danger. China and Russia would support and may even send soldiers to NK. The United States would support SK. And i don't think the Europeans would sit this one out. England, and Australia would certainly come to our aid. I could go on but I'll stop here.
My .02 worth.

Did anyone see the governor or mayor of Guam today? That dude is a straight up nails right now. Chillin out on a beautiful beach, drinking fruity cocktails, taking calls from global leaders and just acting like it's business as usual. Dude is keeping his pimp hand strong.

Threats towards Guam is nothing new to them. I think the only new-ish wrinkle is the threat involves nukes. I've got a couple buds just shy of retirement doing a hitch at Osan and Kunsan, they say the local media isn't even covering this latest tantrum from N Korean Mario. Par for the course there.

That's funny stuff Fresh. They are treating Kim like he's the blow hard that he is.

BTW, I'm in Cheyenne at a micro brew pub called Accomplise....all you dudes should check it out. Great beers.

China is the key on the chess board since they have the economic keys to choke NK and the USA has the economic Keys to choke off China. China gets it and I feel the NK will soon feel the squeeze and the NK does not have the ability to stand on its own.

Not so sure we are really prepared to choke off China.

Our 25 largest banks have over $200 trillion exposure in derivatives that can take us down even though the banks pass the so called stress test. Our memories of the 2008 financial crisis have dulled.

A gradual tariff in certain industries on China doing business in the US based on NK actions. The flow of money can change actions in people and countries without armed conflict.

I noticed something today.....

While being stuck in Wyoming with crap weather and unable to do our well test, I spent my day at the hotel switching from news station to news station, listening to opinions, points of view, tactical play books..... etc.

I've come to a conclusion: the media, ALL news based media on TV, is completely full of chit. I spend most of my days either in my office surrounded by market watch tvs, reading trends in economics, studying up on new tech, investment opportunities, reading over financial statements, or exploring foreign markets for opportunities. When I come home, it straight to the gym and then home to shower and watch a game or out to have a few beers and watch a game.

The absolute conjecture of the media now is ridiculous. I heard a reporter say today that NK could detonate a nuke in orbit and destroy all of our banking records, communications, and our ability for our military to make war. Completely false. I know for a FACT that the vast majority of US satellites are hardened against EMP attack. Why are they making chit up? It's borderline criminal. I've never been a reality TV guy. In point of fact, I watched the first episode ever of "the real world" on MTV years ago and never watched another. I watched the first episode of survivor and was done. Why does everything have to have such fvcking drama? Why the exaggeration? Lil' Kim is crazy, but he's not stupid. But the idiots in the MSM want you to believe he's literally going to do it. And the way I know they are full of chit is this:

If a attack by NK were even a possibility, the focus would not have shifted over to Charlottesville, VA and the KKK like it did. Wanna know why, because if Lil' Kim does nuke us, there is no Charlottesville, no KKK and no protests.

Everyone obviously remembers 9-11. There was NOTHING on tv except New York, al queda, bin Laden etc for months.....literally. This was a real threat, an actual event. Now it appears to me that the media is just trying to out do one another for ratings. What happened to just reporting the news? Do they not realize that if a tree falls in the woods and no one was there to hear it that it made no sound?

Wait a minute, Survivor is awesome, haven't missed a season. Richard Hatch running around neeked was hilarious. But I get your drift and agree with you.

Clob.....The NK have tested ICBM to show that they have the technology to .."Nuke " anywhere. The intellegence community is somewhat split (according to reports we are allowed to read) on whether or not NK even possesses the technology of controlled reentry, without which even the nukes would burn up on their way to their targets. This is not an easy problem to over come. Lots(most) of newsguys like to report crap that they make up that can not be easily disputed.

The news is garbage on all fronts. Even sports news are starting to become drama (ex.Lavar Ball) filled garbage as well. It's definitely who can get the "story" out faster with out the facts and that's not what journalism is about.

You're right about that.

Many people couldn't understand a true news broadcast if there was one available.

I listen to all the news stations, I even listened to Al Jezera when my carrier had it. It is truly fascinating the difference in content, and spin. There isn't really an unbiased newscast.

The problem it causes is the only news a lot, and I mean a lot of people listen to is one that reinforces their beliefs. I live in very conservative East Texas and I know people that haven't listened to anything but Fox News for the last 20 years, or however long it has been on the air. I'm sure the few liberals around here only listen to MSNBC.

No matter whether you are liberal or conservative it's not real good to only listen to a biased newscast that reinforces your views.

People should really try and understand both sides of an argument.

That should also be said about who you surround yourself with. You should have diversity in the people you hang out with so it can open your eyes on what really goes on. I listen/read all types of news just to see if there's a middle ground but it's getting harder and harder. I'm also noticing people getting their "facts" from meme's on social media. I've actually removed myself from FB and IG because of the stupidity I see some former friends and even current post. It's sad!

Good point.

There really is something to be said about diversity. Mainly you can learn things.

If Mexico signed a treaty with Iran, and Iran sent in 50,000 troops and military hardware into Mexico and Mexico and Iran were going to have a joint military exercise, may be the United States would get crazy. The US might even fire some test missiles into the Gulf of Mexico.

I get your example. However, perhaps if NK wasn't defiantly developing nuclear missiles and firing them to provoke other nations, none of what you describe would be happening today. NK is to blame for this situation. Not the U.S., SK, Japan, or any other country. Its unfortunate that previous presidents did not address things with NK regarding their nuclear development. If they had, we wouldn't be dealing with this today.

If you are trying to do an analogy of the scenario in Korea, you are missing the point. The 50,000 troops you are referring to have been there for 67 years and not just sent in for an exercise....and so is the treaty. That is why the soviet missles in Cuba( just being assembled) was different from out missles in Turkey which had been there since Turkey became an ally right after the War.

Where you are exactly correct is that it would indeed make us crazy. But, do not ever get the idea that the reason NK is crazy is because the US has troops in South Korea. The whole purpose of that govt is to preserve the power of the Kim Dynasty. They will do that above all else....even feeding their citizens.

So there is a sort of statute of limitations on adversaries that may want to counter a perceived threat. Cuba did not become a Communist country until the late 50's and being a small Communist Country may want a big ally to defend a perceived threat. I am not trying to defend North Korea, just trying to present another point of view how a nation on the other side might perceive their particular situation.

Cuba never requested anything. The Russians took advantage of the situation that unexpectedly came about when Castro was successful in over throwing a corrupt regieme .
Russia moved the missiles in quickly hoping to negotiate moving them back out on the US promise of removing the missiles from Turkey....and also promising to not attack Cuba. They got half what they wanted in that we allowed Castro to stay there. It looked like a US victory, but really it was at best a draw and in reality we got bamboozeled.

North Korea is in exactly the same position as they were at the end of WWII.

So................. anybody nervous?

Btw MM I do not consider this to be a political thread because here is my goal----

There are people in this lobby that were alive during the Cuban missile crisis and I'm curious of their opinion because this is the closest thing to it that we've seen in my lifetime. As a child of the mid to late 70s and 80s, I remember the cloud if the USSR hanging over this country and the Mutually Assured Destruction the we as a nation shared with the Russians. I always felt safe because I some how rationalized in my mind that because the Russians loved playing chess, they would see a nuclear strike as ultimately a bad chess move, and they would never do that.

However, this dude Lil' Kim doesn't strike me as a chess player..... he seems a bit unpredictable.

So what say ye elder statesman of this lobby?

Are you worried about Kim going full r*tard and pressing the button on Guam? Are you dusting out your parents old bomb shelter? Fully stocked on Vienna sausages and spam?

Kim doesn't run anything. The generals in the military are the ones calling the shots. It's been pretty obvious from day one that Kim isn't respected by the government/military elites. He's just a puppet.

Well, well......it appears Lil Kim has had second thoughts about Guam.

Somehow, I think just the opposite is true. Kim has already purged several Generals since he took over.

Agree. Didn't he shoot one with an RPG? Or was that a family member he did that to?
No, no, no, no.......not an RPG. The most drastic execution was committed on one of his generals by taking him out to an old runway at an old base. They then pulled a soviet made ZSU 23-4 armored anti aircraft vehicle in front of the dude. It has 4 23mm anti aircraft guns mounted to it.

Boom. Duck soup.

It seems Trumps warnings have worked, for now... Great news! What should be the next step? What do you do now to prevent this from happening again in a few months/years? NK won't stop developing their nukes.

I believe for the family member he had a mortar zeroed in and tied the family member to a pole and fired the mortar.

I wouldn't be so quick to credit Trump for defusing the crisis.

Or you might be right, and he & James Mattis may have scared NK into backing off. Maybe the NKs blinked first, as the Soviets did in JFK's era?

It's also possible that the North Koreans have run into some engineering challenges. Testing missiles in the Pacific Ocean, in a specific area only 40km from a populated island, with a narrow deadline? I was really surprised that they were ready to guarantee in advance that they could test near Guam. They have to (try to) secretly transport the missiles over mountainous roads, set up a platform, move the missile into place, fuel it, etc. Their systems are under cyber attacks as they do this. What if they miss the target ring around Guam, and hit the island accidentally? Imagine if they hit a Chinese ship! When testing in the East Sea (of Japan), they can patrol the target area to make sure it's relatively clear. These are unarmed missiles, of course, but the political damage and the loss of face...

We'll never know which happened, until perhaps the Kim regime eventually dies and disappears.

To answer your question, DH, there's absolutely nothing to prevent this from happening in a few weeks or months. NK will keep making threats. They will keep taking lives of SK sailors, civilians, etc. They'll say and do outrageous things, because this is how they force their Chinese patrons to supply them with oil & food. And they will do only small, occasional things, since they don't really want war with the USA. Just the constant threat of war.

Someone mentioned dropping leaflets. Yes, there are various methods of sharing different points of view with North Korean citizens. Helium balloons with USB drives. Loudspeakers. Smuggling Bibles in. Giant signs. Giant Christmas trees. Some ways are more effective than others. It's hard to know, though, how many "true believers" there really are. How many NKs really believe that KJU has no anus -- never has to use the RR? They're frightened out of their lives, for fear of being ratted out by neighbors or even family members, lest they allow a newspaper article with photos of the Dear Leader & Great Leader to fall to the floor. That's one of MANY no-no's that can land them in a gulag-style prison, where zombie-like prisoners will literally search through the feces of an animal to find an undigested kernel of corn. In his presence, they generally cry, but how much of this is because they honestly worship the dude, and how much due to fear?

These poor souls need our prayers, and no matter what your political feelings are, so do the leaders of all nations with WMDs. So, yes, pray for Kim Jong Un, Bashar al-Assad, Mamnoon Hussain (Pakistan), and so on, and for the military leaders who advise them. May they find the way of peace. And may Pres. Donald Trump, Sec. Rex Tillerson and Sec. James Mattis do so, too.

Damn @HornsRuleU that's just insane. Can you imagine the re-programming the true believers would need if they left that bubble and were introduced to the real world? It's like they live in the matrix. How do we, collectively, go about including these people in the global society if there is a war?

It would be like if you found out tomorrow that George Washington and the rest of the founding fathers were all aliens from the planet (insert made up planet name). Dude, I feel for those people. If you drop a photo of Lol Kim you go to jail?

The two that blew me away were the claims th a Kim doesn't poop, and the fact that he can talk to dolphins. I thought people were clowning when I heard this bit it turns out that the gov really said that! They believe the dude can talk to dolphins. Dolphins! Let that sh!t sink in. Those people are psychologically wrecked.
