He was my roommate. Good dude and a longhornMy family has used Trace Burton. I have not dealt with him personally, but I think consensus is he’s very good. Good firm.
one other question. When you say you need someone in San Antonio, I assume that is where the client is located. Where are the minerals that are being dealt with located? It could make a difference. Can you be a little more specific? What do you have? a title issue, contract issue, litigation needs, etc?
have been on the opposite side of a deal with Trace and he is a really nice guy and appears to be quite capable if you're talking lease negotiations or such.Second for Trace Burton and his group

I’m happy to look at getting you a competing bid to help you make the decision. I’ve got a mineral co based in dallas. DM me and we can look into it if you like.

Good for you. Great problem to have. A few things for sure are that oil prices change over time, wells decline, and technology always improves. So there are multiple business factors to consider.Maybe selling my mineral interests in Dimmit County, 10,000 acres.

Kingfisher:We have 88 producing wells on the property. Here lately the monthly production is about 125K barrels per month, it has been as high as 300K barrels per month. I will be 60 in 3 weeks. Just got an expensive divorce.
I want to get away from the uncertainty. But was always told by my grandfather (a 1911 UT grad who made his fortune in Vera Cruz) to never sell any mineral interests.

I think Trace may be a good place to start. Obviously, the key is getting someone who knows the area or can get up to speed on the area and can get you top dollar and I'm sure Trace has familiarity with Dimmit County. While I've represented clients in the Wolfcamp play selling many millions in mineral/royalty sales, I don't have any familiarity with mineral pricing in Dimmit County, alhough I've written hundreds of title opinions covering Dimmit, Zavala and Maverick County acreage. Is any of your acreage near the Zavala County line?
Consider selling a portion of your interest if you think there could be future development. We have 88 producing wells on the property. The work I've done in Dimmit is West of there. If you mind me asking, what kind of production (e.g., Eagle Ford, Austin Chalk etc) and who is operating it?On Nueces River near Valley Wells.

I know parting with minerals is difficult, especially family minerals. I usually advise my clients to hang on to them unless you really need the money or someone offers you "stupid" money. A lot of stupid money was flying around the Wolfcamp for a while. If you do sell, you may want to consider a term assignment or something along those lines, where the interests revert when the leases terminate. The reversionary interest is an interest in real property that can be passed down via will, etc.Murphy. Eagleford.
