I've always been interested in history, but I missed out on taking famed UT professor Karl Galinsky's courses on ancient history way back when I was on the Forty. In fact, I wasn't too interested in ancient history until we took a trip to Italy ten years ago. Since then, I've become pretty fascinated with it, especially after listening to Yale Prof. Donald Kaplan's Ancient Greece lectures online and former Austinite Mike Duncan's long History of Rome podcasts. Anyone other OBs know any good sources for ancient history?
Also, have any OBs read translations of any of the following and if so would you recommend:
Homer's The Illiad
Homer's The Odyssey
Herodotus's The Histories
Thucydides's History of the Peloponnesian War
Virgil's The Aeneid
