He's not worth that much!

Signing quarterback Dak Prescott to a long-term contract extension is crucial for the Dallas Cowboys this offseason and the sides reportedly were close to getting it done months ago, until Prescott upped his price.

Prescott asks for more than $33M per season
The Cowboys and Prescott were close to a deal in September that paid the quarterback approximately $33 million per season, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported. Then Prescott asked for more.

If you move on from Dak, the question is, who do you get? And no, Tom Brady isn't the answer. It is what it is. $30M+ is the going rate for QB's these days. Even if the Cowboys pay Dak $33M, that doesn't mean that he'll be the highest paid QB for very long. Several guys are coming up for new deals, and with the salary cap going up, they will easily top what Dak might get. I say you pay him.

Dak will not get paid I repeat he will not get paid cause one Mahomes is about to change the game and Dak has only won 1 playoff game.

I look for Jerry to get Burrows, thats the guy he needs and I look for a deal to send him to Dallas, I may be wrong, but, it makes sense to me

Jones needs to draft Hurts. He did finish 2nd in Heisman votes so he must be almost as good as Burrow right?

Here’s the deal with quarterback contracts in the NFL. While right now 35 million a year sounds like a lot of money, truth is 2 years from now the per year salary will be around 50 a year. The salary cap continues to rise each year as well. Jerry should have went ahead and signed him before last season and it probably would have saved him a little bit.

Dak has been pretty damn good overall winning 41 games in 4 years. In 2016 against Green Bay in the divisional round the defense gave up a big 4th and 31 that cost them a shot at a conference championship berth. Last season in the divisional round the defense gave up 300 yards on the ground to the Rams rushing attack. Those were 2 tough losses that Dak played well enough for them to win. It’s easy to lay all the blame on the qb but in reality being a Cowboys fan myself and watching every game I think Dak is good enough to lead this team on a deep playoff run. Mike McCarthy has worked with Montana, Favre, and Rodgers so I think he will be the best thing that has happened to Dak.

If I was any team wanting to sign my quarterback I would do it before KC signs Mahomes. KC is gonna have to break the bank for Mahomes but if anybody deserves he definitely does.

Makes no sense. You give your QB that much money and you can't get quality help around him

I agree it makes no sense but that’s the way it works in the NFL. That’s why they should have saved 90 million and let Zeke walk. History proves paying running backs never works out. That’s also where drafting well comes in handy. You can assemble a team around a high paid quarterback with quality draft picks for 4 years at a cheap rate.

Or you draft a rookie QB with major upside and surround him with studs. Alas, when that little rookie contract runs out, the talent drain starts.

The Falcons built a team around Matt Ryan and went on a Super Bowl run when he was the highest paid. When the 49ers signed Jimmy G he was the highest paid and they made a Super Bowl run. Now they didn’t win it all but just proves that you can make it to the top with a high paid quarterback.

Ummmm...elite, franchise-type RBs are rare, and worth the money. Dallas was 0-2 to start the season before paying Emmitt Smith what he was asking. And that was with Aikman. Irvin, Novacek, and the best OLine in the business. They have all the other pieces of the offense, but If you think Zeke is that type player, it was money well spent.

History says otherwise about paying a running back in order to win a championship. The last rushing champion to win a Super Bowl was Terrell Davis and that was over 20 years ago. While I agree elite running backs are rare, I just think that with a good offensive line you can plug a decent running back in there and be just fine. If you go back and look at the top paid running back on each super bowl winning team from the last 10 years 7 out of 10 of them were making under a million dollars a year.

I'd call Rivers and draft someone else for the future. Is Love worth drafting and grooming?
