Did any of you catch the end of the Rockdale/Brock game yesterday? The head coach at Rockdale's son was a member of the football team until he was diagnosed with cancer and lost part of his shin and was no longer able to do athletics anymore (he is also in remission, so woohoo). He has been an assistant coach the entire year. Well during the end of the game, his dad got him suited up and he was able to take the last snap of the game in the state championship. An incredible moment for that kid, his family, and the entire team.

Dang allergies, its getting misty in here!

There have been several awesome stories. The headcoach from Newton had a lung transplant that he shouldn't have survived and now has a lung disease that only 4 people in the country have ever had and he is the only one to survive it past 200 days.

Refugio had a kid a who broke his neck and was told that he would never walk again. They interviewed him during the game and he told his rehab person that if the football team made it to the state championship that he would stand up and walk there. And he did just that. All of this after his house (and several other teammates) was destroyed during Harvey.

Fox Sports has done a fantastic job highlighting these programs and special players in them.

It’s great stuff.

In high school football, one of the best of all time Great games in the 4th quarter by both teams,Manvel stopped at the one when time ran out.
Not sure that any other team in the playoffs could have beaten either Highland Park or Manvel. IMHO, the two best teams at the championship level.

Both Highland Park and Manvel could beat most any 6A team.
The Plano coach got the school board to build a giant high school so that they could finally beat Highland Park. I presume QB Jones will go to Arky?

I think Arkansas is the most likely place for Jones to end up. He'll do well in Morris' offense.

Blood isn't thicker than water?
Checkbook is bigger....than pretty much anything.

Talked to a recruiter the other day that does a lot of CUSA type recruiting. Said Jones is a SMU, UNT, Houston, type kid but because of his family ties (and the checkbook that comes with it) he will be a D1 kid. He was going to SMU until Morris went to Arky.

Jones looks really small; not sure what he will accomplish at the next level; but if Friday is the highlight of his life he just scoreboarded 99.9% of the rest of us.
