Rick Atkinson’s The Fate of the Day: The War for America, Fort Ticonderoga to Charleston, 1777-1780 becomes available late next month and the Kindle version is currently offered for advance purchase at 67% off on Amazon. Atkinson was rightly acclaimed for his Pulitzer Prize-winning three-volume history of the U.S.Army in World War II. Fate of the Day is the second volume in his anticipated trilogy of the American army during the Revolutionary War. In my mind is his first volume — The British Are Coming: The War for America, Lexington to Princeton 1775-1777 — was every bit as absorbing as his World War II books. Highly recommended.
