Ouch. That will leave a mark. Poor aggy.

I think Saban is a good coach but the thing about that makes everyone goes wild is that he recruits great. If he would've got the UT job instead of strong, we would be saying he was a bad hire because he doesn't have a QB here. Give Strong or half the coaches the Alabama team and we would be saying that they are great coaches. It reminds me of Phil Jackson of the Bulls, He had Jordan. LA, he had Shaq and Kobe. Put him on a crappie team, he would have been a nobody coach. Once Strong get his point guard (QB), we will see great things. Saban style doesn't fit what the state of Texas run. That's why he would fail here

If Saban is just a good coach, what the hell does that make the rest of them?

You complain constantly about what you perceive as even the slightest "personal attack" towards you, yet this is ok? Practice what you preach.
I was making fun of aggys on here with the Brandon Jones documentary thing. Then I was attacked personally by more than one aggy. Then I responded in kind. I wasn't the instigator here in terms of personal attacks. But it's your world, MM. I'll leave you and your aggy and $ooner friends to it.

I try to be fair to everyone, and I do give Longhorns more leeway on here, but you can't have it both ways Scholz. Again, I didn't see where anyone was "personally attacking you", and if I did or do see that, I will take care of if.

Hey at least you get a warning:D

This just an opinion of what I think. Is he a good coach, YES but I feel that he wouldn't have that great of a season as some of you might think. IF and that's a big IF, if he had a better option at QB then YES but with what was here in Strong's first year. I am going to say he would've had a season somewhat the same as Strong. I totally understand where you guys feel he would be a great hire and he probably would've but no qb, no go. Get a qb and it's good to go. I do think the name(Saban)alone will bring in talent. Do you think he would've kept those players that Strong got rid of?

Not sure considering the circumstances of their departures isn't public information. We'll have to agree to disagree on Saban's abilities as a coach. However you feel about him as a coach you have to at least admit his recruiting ability is second to none which means he would be stockpiling even more talent than strong the past couple of classes.

In two horrible seasons Strong has brought in back to back top 10 classes. Not sure any coach could top that. When Strong starts winning, it could be flat out scary. Let's see then how he stacks up against Saban in recruiting. Don't forget Strong has the handicap of kids actually having to qualify for college to get into UT. Not so much for Saban.

They all have to qualify for college, quit being ridiculous. According to 247s composite rankings Strong's past 2 classes have been 10 and 11. Saban's have been 1 and 1. Saban's classes would have been better. I realize that is a statement of opinion, but it's an opinion pretty much shared by everyone except apparently you and cwill.

Not that any of this means anything in regards to how good/bad the Strong hire was, but Saban is a consensus all timer. Strong is just starting his career. They aren't on the same level. To say Strong is doing as good a job as Saban would be doing is reaching quite a bit considering all the mistakes Strong already has on his ledger.

I'm curious, I wonder what Saban's first two classes were ranked at Bama. Even then he was a bigger name than Strong, and had better seasons than we've had, yet I bet his classes were not better than Strong first two. Yeah it sure is easy after multiple championships to talk about how much better he's recruiting now.

Really? Lol. Go watch some interviews and listen to Bama football players talk. Then tell me they're qualified for college. Not all of course, but just like most SEC schools they have more than their fair share of borderline illiterates. It's laughably naive to think otherwise.

His first year 2007 it was Ranked 10th and 2008 Ranked 1st and I'd say that was spot on because in 2009 they got into the NC. I googled it so take it for what it is. I believe if Strong can get the offense developed the way it should be, with these two classes I can see UT back in the fold easily. Strong is obviously not in the same coaching realm of Saban but I sure hope he becomes close if not better while at UT.

Trying to get the thread back on track.

A black head coach at a prestigious program with a substantially black coaching staff may be a legitimate consideration with some black athletes who feel they will relate better to black coaches. Strong's got Saban beat there.

What ever happened to that DT named Washington looked like a midget wrestler standing next to Vince Young?

He was a high 4 star who I couldn't for the life of me figure out why, I swear he looked like a little kid in a picture he took next to VY.

It really depends upon the admittance criteria used by each college. Many at UT wouldn't get into Rice either... but the SEC has rather low standards in general.
