Over the Shoulder vs. the Turnaround Catch

Why did they start coaching kids to turnaround to catch the ball? We were taught to catch over the shoulder which sure seems better to me. It allows you to stay on stride for speed and YAC.

??????? Where are you hearing this from?????? Not really understanding what you are meaning????
 
If the ball is thrown behind you you have to slow down and wait for it, or turn around. Those short passes really make the running over the shoulder catches difficult.
 
I’m assuming you’re talking about back shoulder fades vs. your standard go route? They’re two completely different routes and both are heavily incorporated still. Just depends on the game situation/coverage defense is in.

I think he’s more talking about the curl routs and come back routes that Herman preferred versus running go routs, posts and slants or as Sark says, run to day light.
