Overshown's targeting call

While I'm not condoning cheapshots, it does make you wonder.

Why doesn't Dallas Turner's hit warrant the same level of penalty as targeting. You leave your feet and drive the QB in the ground using all of your body weight.

That hit was more vicious than the "targeting" calls I have seen recently.

So you guys are now actually talking about assault with intent? Surely you jest.

That's not what I'm saying. All I said was that I'm surprised that coaches don't use a player as a sacrificial tool to accomplish knocking a key opposing player out of the game to their benefit.

The Bama players figured it out. Cheap shot the QB on 1st and goal. If you take him out, the penalty is 5 yards. Pretty decent trade-off.

Here's the question, was it a cheap shot on Bama's behalf? Not sure about a cheap shot but they definitely wanted Ewers to feel it.

Clear cheap shot in my book. Defenders are trained these days to let up when the QB throws the ball, if avoiding penalty is the objective, that is.

He obviously saw Quinn throw the ball, yet continued to hold Quinn’s arms in, and drive him into the ground. He was doing what he was trained to do, take the QB out.

Texas does that to Young, flags come from everywhere 10 out of 10 times.

You mean the DL for Alabama aren't nice guys and wanted the opposing QB to be blowing snot bubbles and have nightmares about them? I'm shocked.
I got a feeling Ewers didn't have any nightmares after that hit... Only thing on his mind is redemption next year in Tuscaloosa.

Them refs had their hands ready to throw them flags like the cowboy gang at the ok corral. Bama's good, they're also protected. Cfb is following the NFL model.
