Honestly, this issue perplexes me. There seems to be a bipartisan consensus to subsidize people’s kids.
Why should American taxpayers pay for someone else’s childcare?
Why should they pay to take more parents out of the household away from child-rearing?
Why should we encourage having kids for those who can’t afford them?
Why should Americans pay the cost of your decision to have a child?
It just doesn’t seem responsible to me.
