Police have NO authority to convict a person of a crime
Police have NO authority to acquit a person of a crime.
Their job is two fold. To be a deterrent to crime. A show of authority to encourage people to follow the law. Second their job is to bring SUSPECTS to court. Bringing them to court can be done in a WRITTEN form in many cases i.e. Traffic violations.
The problem is when people argue their CASE to police and it escalates. Police are not the judge/jury.
You want to avoid police abuse REGARDLESS of race 99% of the time.
Respect the officer.
Don't hide things.
Don't resist or be confrontational
Don't run.
This happens every day. Cops are desensitized to the pleas of "I didn't do it" or "you have no right"
Force is only met with Force. At the end of the day police are still humans.
Black people could fix the vast majority of their POLICE problems by being cooperative and respectful. Of course they may still have COURT problems but that is another topic.
