Interview dropped today. One thing that I found really interesting was his take on why nuclear power didn’t take off like it was expected to about 50 years ago. He said Three Mile Island and Chernobyl were the publicly proffered reasons for the subsequent over regulation of the industry. He said the real reason was that we shared reactor designs with India thinking that it would be too difficult for India to create a nuclear weapons program. India turned nuclear into a dual use program in a few years and tested its first nuclear weapon in 1974. I had never heard this dual use argument, specifically regarding India’s nuclear program, for the downfall of nuclear.
