PJ Fleck?

No need to expand, you asked for a reason I gave it to you, now shut this thread down. You got your answer.

I don't know much about him. Have not seen his team play. His record looks good. Do you think he would be a good fit at Texas?

I don't know much either. Although he beat 2 Big 10 teams this year, Illinios and Northwestern. I realize that they aren't the most impressive Power 5 teams, but he did it with Western Michigan. Over 4 years he went from 1-11, 8-5, 8-5, to 12-0.

I don't think we should limit ourselves by some of the criteria established by posters. For example, I rarely see Patterson's name mentioned in our search and we didn't consider him last time. He's turned TCU into a nationally relevant program in a Power 5 Conference and they will never compete with us from a financial or facilities standpoint.

I will have to do a little research on him. I seen a thing on ESPN about him that seemed ok. He is a positive coach and believes in being optimistic at least from the piece I saw. The record is impressive. Patterson would be a great hire. I just don't see that as even possible. Would not hurt to check. I agree with you to look around. If Herman is the best then hire him if someone else is then hire them. Just get Texas back to where it BELONGS. The top.

Son dj and I have had a few scuffles on here but I let them go when we agree or when we understand each others points. Why are you slamming him for a good question? Did he make you mad?

I'm not saying that we should hire him over some pep talks, but I like his attitude and passion.

Oh no........Internet tough guy.

You asked a question I gave you an answer, next time be more specific in what you want.

No I'm just trolling him. We've had so many new guys here trolling us, I'm not into it. We are jumping on and off the Herman band wagon, and then we are bringing up guys that have just as little experience as Herman. I've stated my case for the people I want, Herman was 4th on my list. The top 3 were all NFL guys.

Here is what I would do, Once LSU names Oger their head coach, Texas needs to step back and start a two week search where they meet at lease 2 guys. Then make an offer. If it's to Tom Herman, fantastic, I'm all in. but at lease try to make a search.

You don't worry that if Texas waits 2 weeks it could miss out on a coach that it would have hired anyway? From what I understand these decisions are not made overnight but someone has been doing the legwork for a good while.

Fleck will get some major offers in the next couple of years. Texas ? Probably not but I wouldn't rule out ND (eventually). Outstanding coach and recruiter. People that are slamming that he only coaches at an MAC level school are probably the same ones that were skeptical of a guy called Meyer at Bowling Green and even better, were laughing their a$$es off when OSU hired some guy named Tressel out of small Youngstown State. You just never know.

The BMDs and admin watch the same games and coaches we do. They know which coaches are considered good or not. At this point, it's all about determining "fit" and making sure their backgrounds are clean - this part is always ongoing.

Fleck's record is very good. The only negative from my perspective is that his rah rah style is unsustainable over the long haul. I don't think he can keep up that intensity as he ages. That act or style has resonated with his current player, though.

Some fans are out of touch with reality. In 1998, we decided to hire the head coach at NC over the head coach at Michigan State or the DC at Florida.

The point of this thread was to discuss the merits of PJ Fleck, but are really "knowledgable" fans think that is a waste because he is not on their short list of Tomlin, John Harbaugh, Meyer, and Saban.

If you haven't noticed we hired tom Herman so no point discussing fleck as a HC anymore.

If I had to pick a mid major coach that would turn out to be the next great major program coach it would probably be Fleck
