1. Private sector labor has been dead to the democrats (unless they are talking about women's issues, family leave type stuff) for a long time, and now the Democrats and UK Labour party are dead to private laborers.

2. The white poor in both the USA and UK are no longer democrats/labour as a rule. That probably has a lot to do with point one as most of them consider themselves labor, they are just hard on luck or health. Trump went soft on entitlements which probably has something to do with it as well.

3. Blacks are more in play than I can recall. There will be no major realignment like the New Deal, but you could see Republicans getting 15-20% of the vote next fall which would be a decent shift.

4. Rich young people are deserting the Republican party. I don't understand this one yet except as some sort of "being in the in crowd" process, but this is very different from what I saw in the 70s through early 2000s. I don't know what to make of this yet, but according to the article that follows it is the same in the UK.

5. Hispanics keep growing as a proportion of our electorate, and there is a lot of diversity within any group like that. Suspect they will range from 60-40 to 80-20 Democrat depending on the circumstances and candidates.

The demography as destiny that seemed so obvious a few years ago is really losing steam given that the white poor and labor support is dropping. The white upper middle and upper class shift to the left is interesting to me and I would appreciate any commentary. My thought is they are the best educated group, and for the more recent graduates they are products of an educational apparatus that was successfully taken over by the left starting in the early 1970s.
