leaving on Sunday for a few days to go fishing for some reds and trout. Any must eat places?

the absolute no questions asked best seafood place in S Texas is Kings Inn at Layola Beach. Of course thats about an hour or so drive south from Port A......well worth the trip. We drive down there for lunch every once in a while from San Antonio.....only takes 3 hours to get there and well worth every minute.

#1 must visit place- Iries Island Food, hole in the wall, seafood/Caribbean food

-The Crazy Cajun is good food better atmosphere, seafood and canjun food served family style and just thrown on the table to eat off of butcher paper. Neat place to hang out. Food is good too!

-Cancun's Grill and Cantina, good mexican food. Pretty good food, better drink specials. Everytime I've eaten here I've been two sheets to the wind and I thought the food was great.

If you wind up in Rockport, Latitude Restaurant is pretty good and of course you have the Boiling Pot which is overpriced but you can get Shrimp and crawfish etc. Be aware though that with the crazy Cajun and Boiling Pot, the shrimp etc. are not very fresh most of the time but it is what it is.

La Playa on the island is one of my favorite Tex Mex stops. If it was in Austin I'd still eat there often.

This.

Venetian Hot Plate, Shells, Virginia's, and Pelican Club

In Rockport- Latitudes and Glow.

The Railyard in Corpus is a King's Inn food copy run by a longtime, former, King's Inn employee.

Ive heard good things about the Venetian Hot Plate but have never eaten there.

Best is to buy ya shrimp and fish on shoreline here in CC where the boats come in and its fresh and take it home and do it up, a lot of restaurants will give you 3 or4 days shrimp and fish, Snoppys on island pretty good, moderate price, you got to figure how fresh it is on how far that shrimp gotta travel to where ya eat it at or it might be frozen which is not fresh

over the years thre have been many, many resturants that are supposedly "as good as Kings Inn" that are run by supposed ex employees of Kings Inn........not one of them has ever been even close enough to as good to make you think they are similar. If they were, nobody would drive to Kings Inn from Corpus, the Valley, or San Antonio to eat there as it is so far away from everything.

Bottom line....nothing is a copy of Kings Inn

Snoopys is great! I remember going there when I was a little kid, took my family there a few years back and I think we waited in line for over an hour. So plan accordingly.

Best seafood I've had in Port A is at Beach & Station Grill. It's at the corner of Beach Street and Station Street, and the food is outstanding.
