Possible committed player opening up his recruitment.

I'm on the fence about the new HC. I don't think he's an upgrade over Tom. I think we were premature in firing Herman. The very public courting Urban forced CDCs hand. Herman was basically blown on the recruiting front.
Jeebus. The staff has a great track record, and they were dealt a crappy hand in recruiting by the outgoing staff. Add in that they are a new staff and haven't been able to run camps, or even meet recruits face to face. That is some serious uphill sledding, and yet we are still poised for what could be a stellar June. What they've already done is phenomenal, under the circumstances.

Here's a novel idea - maybe let's allow them to coach a season and get their first full year of recruiting in before we start abandoning ship.

Yeah, there are hundreds of guys with 2 NY6 bowl victories on their resume?

Herman is going to be the next HC at USC and we'll see we were too inpatient cause we thought we had urban on the hook.

Would have liked to see his offense worth someone at QB other than Sam. Got a little peek against an average cu team.

We just fired a coach for being ranked in the top 20 4 years after finishing with 7 losses back to back years just 4 seasons ago.
You’re high. Herman lost the locker room with his standoff-ish attitude. He also played favorites and caved into parental pressure. He was done long before the Urban talk.

According to Mike Roach, a player committed to Texas is thinking about opening up his recruitment. Mike did not reveal his name. OB mods, do any of you have info on a possible decommited?
Asked Ketch this very question yesterday. In response he in essence said that it is a common occurrence for kids to have questions as to whether they have made the right choice or not at this juncture of the process. So he politely side stepped the question but regardless you hope that we do not see a kid decommit.

We hired a young, rising star, who was learning on the job. He got stuck with a qb who was a fan favorite, with a low ceiling, and limited tools. We got inpatient and got rid of him prematurely. He certainly wasn't perfect, but he was a damn good coach. The eot situation was lose - lose no matter what.

Think he'll end up at USC and make them a monster again.

While I hope Sark returns us to glory, I think he's just going to give us more 8-4. Nothing in his past leads me to believe otherwise.

He'll be under immense pressure here, hope he doesn't crack.

Herman was sounded outcoached by Patterson and Riley regularly. That's just for starters.
I didn't see anything that made Herman an elite coach.

I would disagree with that. Tom failed against the opponents that really mattered. Recruiting had come to a stand still and if Tom were here now the projections for this years recruiting class probably would be 15th or worse. In addition to this Tom failed as it relates to standing up to the woke mob and did not defend UT against the false attacks from it.

I defended Tom as much as anyone on this board and I did not casually alter my opinion of him. Toms actions left me with no other alternative but to be honest about what they revealed and that was something that took time and exposure to certain situations to sufficiently manifest itself.. Tom only has Tom to blame for no longer being the coach of the Texas Longhorns.

Perhaps, like Sark, he'll over come the weaker part of himself and have success down the road. I hope that happens for him and having to deal with what happened is I'm sure very difficult but again Tom did it to himself and I do believe that Sark is further along in life and has more emotional intelligence than Tom. I'll be pulling for him but Texas had to move on from him..

I think if they can coach good recruiting will be alright. But recruits want to see it in action first.
This, winning cures all. Besides, with the portal and “free agency”, recruiting focus might pivot to experienced players that can help right away and the 4/5 star kids. The 3 stars and kids that don’t make the camps that come on will be looking to move to the P5

Agree to disagree. Herman was immature, hired an initial B team staff and hung himself out on the EOT thing. He was gone 5 minutes after Ehlinger stood by himself during the Eyes.

Sam himself has said that picture was a misrepresentation of the situation. Herman was an immature d-bag, but why do people keep holding on to the inaccurate narrative of that photo?

Picture is worth 1,000 words. One player was standing on an empty field with his Horns Up while the rest of the team was in the locker room. The Exes decided that we had seen enough of Herman. Simple.

This. There was really no way to spin that photo into any sort of a positive.

Also, Tom dug his own grave with his initial staff. Same mistake Charlie made (among many). I am trying hard to think of a situation where a coach in his 3rd (Charlie) or 4th (Tom) season was able to survive after having to fire basically his entire initial staff (coaches leaving for promotions doesn’t count). I can’t think of any.

By the end of the month of June, all of us will know how good our coaches will be. I believe Texas will be GREAT for the next 20 yrs and on.
