A few weeks back, my mom found out she had stage 2 breast cancer. This past week, she had a surgery to remove the lump and test it. Unfortunately, they found it to be more aggressive than expected. So she is going back in for more surgery and chemo.
My mom has always been my rock. Divorced early and raised me while working her ass off in retail. Not going to lie, this is tough for me.
Update 3/29/24
She got the results back from her second surgery, which also included putting in the port for chemo.
The good news is they were able to get more the second time, and the remaining parts they missed are pre-cancerous.
She also now has the plan, which not knowing was scaring her. She will have 6 rounds of chemo over a period of 18 weeks starting next week. That will be followed by radiation treatment.
I appreciate all the prayers from my OB family. It really does help!
Update 7/28/24
Well, my mom was supposed to go in for her last chemo this past week, and unfortunately, she came down with an upper respiratory illness, and so they had to put that on hold. Even as of today, she has not recovered and sounds pretty bad. They have had her on antibiotics since Wednesday, but they haven't helped. They don't want to give her too much as it could mess with other stuff. I was hoping to get her past this last chemo, as it makes her feel absolutely horrible. I pray for everyone who has ever gone through this.
Update 8/19/24
My mom was finally able to ring the bell for her last chemo treatment, 2 weeks ago. She is starting to feel much better. She is starting the radiation treatment, which, while it will make her tired, should not be nearly as rough for her.
I want to thank everyone for the prayers. It truly means a lot to me. I have not been in the best place mentally over the last few months. It really does help to see my OB brothers and sisters offering support.
I appreciate all the continued prayers!!
