Praying for our city, our state, and our country. This situation hits close to home for me as the father and uncle of African-American girls. We are raising them to respect authority and it hurts to see when that authority performs horrific acts as we have witnessed this week. I support the peaceful protesters who want change and I am angry at those who choose violence to take away from the message that those protesters are trying to achieve.

I struggle to explain to my daughter why armed white men can storm a courthouse in another state without teargas and violent reaction from police while unarmed protests against police brutality is met with such forceful actions

I did part of my MBA in Hong Kong and see what China is doing to those wonderful people. I personally argued with Chinese government officials while over there about freedom. And China is using the violence stemming from our protests as fuel to crack down even harder.

Global leadership, including our own, is failing humanity right now during these events. I am praying for all of us.

p.s. Regardless of my avatar, I’m a Caucasian, Texan, independent voter who believes in our right to bear arms and that both the right and left are more interested in tearing the other down than moving our country forward.
