I can't speak to most of the teams, but if TCU can sort out the QB situation fast I can see a good season coming. I've also learned to never bet against Gary fu*king Patterson.

(This came off the Phil Steele site, and I could not agree more with the Patterson comment

Gary Patterson has become Bob Stoops Lite. Does anyone respect Patterson’s defensive prowess these day? Nope. Patterson was good when he was doing more with less back in the day. What have they done in the Big 12 of notoriety besides continuously let their fans down.

Disrespect Gary Patterson at your own risk, I know I won't do it. I used to say similar things about Snyder about 10 years ago, and he still kept on winning. Patterson hasn't forgotten how to coach, put him in LSU or USC and it will be like releasing the Kracken.

With zero offensive support TCU held 7 teams under 20 points in 2018.

Southern U and SMU were the first 2 that fit that category. The others that fit in this category that you cite were bottom dweller Big 12 offensive team. Patterson May knock off a team here and there but really? How did that Ohio State game work out for them? And that was early in the season when Ohio State was very sketchy by all accounts.

As one writer wrote recently, "Last year, TCU had about a million injuries, and I exaggerate, but not by much!" But don't get me wrong, I am happy we have Tom, but Patterson would have been my first choice.

I'll pass on Patterson. I have first hand knowledge of his treatment of coaches and players. He's a jerk. Ask Robinson from last year. TCU will field competent teams but the talent level is lower and good teams should always grind TCU down by the 3rd qtr..

TCU again had the #1 defense in the Big 12 last season despite all the limitations Gary was cursed with.

You may be right I’m just saying it doesn’t real seem like much when you look at their record overall and accomplishments since joining the Big 12. I think Patterson is a good coach but nothing special anymore. You recall a couple years ago TCU played OU towards the end of the year with a chance to ruin OU’s chances of going to the Big 12 CCG. A lot of people were expecting big things from TCU in that game. End result-Route.

Fast forward a month later, TCU and OU both make it to the CCG, Patterson is quoted as saying they’re much better prepared for the second matchup than the first, have reviewed all the tape available and have made all the adjustments necessary to have a different result than the first matchup with OU. Final result- Another Route. Patterson’s team in my opinion is no better that OSU. Sure they can compete sometimes but as a whole are they really considered a good team against equal or better talent? I have to say no.

Uh Belldozer in 2014 TCU went 12/1. They went to a P6 bowl game, the Peach Bowl, and beat the stone cold hell out of MS. If I recall correctly they finished 2nd in the final poll. The only time they beat OK since they joined the Big XII. 2015 was more of the same they feel short against OK. They were a 2 point conversion from winning the game and the Big XII. If I recall that was a good game. They finished in the top 10 also. I look for Gary Patterson to retire in a couple of years when he hits the 20 year mark. Oh btw Belldozer GP has also won a RB.

Hmmm that sounds a lot like the accomplishments of Okla. State in the Big 12. I stand by my thoughts on TCU. They may get close to being relevant occasionally but overall they underachieve.

A little off topic but I ran into Kliff Kingsbury’s dad at the feed store this morning and he told me he’s been out at Cardinals camp and that Murray was the most unique qb Kliff has ever seen, so there’s that.

You drove by my house without permission?

You're on thin ice bro.

The absolute opposite word to describe TCU over the last 20 years is “underachieve”. It’s literally the worst take in all of sports.

Haha yes, well since joining a legit conference they’ve underachieved. What have they won?? NOTHING. I like Patterson don’t get me wrong but until they stake a claim in the conference I just can’t say they’re world beaters or overachievers. Patterson is making a lot of money not to be winning the conference regularly

On the road I'm pretty sure you took if you were going to the tractor supply feed store on 46 and coming from 306 to do so.
I live on Windgate Dr. #8 off 306. I wa at New Braunfels Feed Not Tractor Supply

Dude------ stop. I know your next door neighbor. Well, technically not "next door" but right near you. Everybody knows you don't live in a trailer park. Just stop already.

Really? Since joining the BIg 12 TCU has won the conference in 2014, and finished runner up in the conference multiple times. In 2014 they probably had the best team in nation and likely would have won the national championship barring the idiotic drop of them from #3 to #6 in the playoff rankings on the last vote.

They have finished ranked in the top ten on three occasions just in the last five seasons including #3 in 2014.

This is all coming from a small private school that fights tooth and nail just to be third string in recruiting their own state. They have never had a top 20 recruiting class in their entire history.

Your standard is impossible for them, or anyone outside of Texas and OU, to live up to.

They’ve only done well when OU had a down year. They were good in their former conference but in the Big 12 unfortunately they’re on par with OSU. Look I get it you’re impressed with them and they’re a nice little school but there are maybe only a handful of folks across the country that share your enthusiasm for TCU. You have to admit, they’re a typical 8-4 type team like OSU who occasionally does a little better only to kind of crap the bed when given the chance.

Wow didn’t realize OU has had so many down years. You must feel they are underachieving with 60% down years? That’s a lot of money to pay a coach to have down years more than not.

2014 was a down year for OU, ironically TCU won the conference. OU hasn’t had a down year since then and TCU hasn’t sniffed a conference title since, coincidence? At this point I have to think or at least hope, your obtuse replies are intentional.

Well, this is just factually incorrect. I'm not sure how you could forget that TCU played your Sooners in the Big 12 championship game in 2017? In addition to that TCU also finished 2nd in the conference in 2015 and was literally one point away from winning the conference if not for a 30-29 loss @ OU.

If you scroll back up you'll see where I noted that TCU made the Big12 CCG only to get throttled by OU just mere weeks after getting throttled the first time by OU. Patterson tickles your fancy I get it, carry on. Seems like a lot of close but no cigar moments for TCU, they look just like OSU clone to me in terms of accomplishments.

It pains me to agree with Bell............but on this one he makes a good comparison.........

Bell had a lot of dumb takes on this thread and made a simple, un-noteworthy comparison to backpedal his way out.

Fair enough, I’ll give you your due. You make some good points to back up your beliefs. I agree that on paper, TCU had the best defense in the Big 12 but at the same time that’s kind of like someone bragging about whatever team in the SEC having the best offense.
