I am just spitballing here. I am interested any any thoughts. I am not posting all of my thoughts right up front. Want to get the discussion going and see if anyone is interested.
It seems to me that the political left used to be on the margin of culture. Those who aligned with it were taking some sort of ideological risk and thinking outside of the box.
Today the political left dominates every aspect of culture.
Because of this, I view progressives as conformists who are towing the company line of popular culture.
There is nothing brave about being a progressive today.
One other thing that I think is ironic/hypocritical of the modern progressive. They are constantly judging those in the past in a negative light for not seeing beyond the constraints of past culture. While they do this they are simultaneously allowing culture to define their entire morality and never seeing past the current constraints of culture themselves.
