I'm waiting on the doorbell "2". I would love to get the Pro but I don't have a doorbell already wired at my home so unless I want to pay a couple of hundred bucks to an electrician to wire in a doorbell, I have to rely on the battery powered version.
The wiring has been the biggest pain in the ass. Working on my 3rd transformer - the ring pro has burned out the first two.
Will the Google Mesh handle gig speed internet? I am having a shi*load of issues with the Xfinity router/modem. Is it also a modem?
I got the ring doorbell 2 off the treasure truck monday and i could attest to slight delay at times but the picture and sound quality is terrific surprisingly. Easy install. Biggest thing (out of town so haven't had a chance to play with it) is the motion range. I need to turn it down a touch, large vehicles on my street will activate it.
You will never get a full gig speed out of Wireless, but this is better than most. Wired is the only way to get the full gig, at this time. TBH even when you see wi-fi say it will hit like 300MB that is not real world test and you would have to have your system next to the access point and nothing else happening on it.
I have over 15 devices on my google WiFi network. 4 teenagers. Two story home over 2500 sq ft.
We never go below 400mbps download speed.

I can set usage hours and and I can pause any kids connection at any time.
Plus I no longer rent my modem from spectrum. My ROI is a just a smidge over two years. Not too bad.

We’re moving in two weeks and our neighborhood has the AT&T fiber with 1000mbps Internet I signed up for. Our house sounds similar to yours, both in layout and square footage. I might have to pull the trigger on the Google WiFi, but obviously need to see how the standard set up works first. Just want to get the most out of it I can.
I can tell you right now, that the Google WiFi will be better than the AT&T modem/router combo.

Amazon has a nice chart that shows what modems handle what speeds by provider. I bought my netgeqr modem for &50.
I simply plugged in an Apple Airport to my ATT Modem. It works great and makes it easy to print wirelessly.
Ubiquiti routers are really good, but are more difficult to setup. They are probably geared more toward commercial applications. I bought one before Google WiFi came out and would have probably expanded. Once Google came out I changed directions and went with them. I have 5 of them in my mesh network and they work flawlessly.
- It's not $300
- There's a safety screw that makes it tough to remove (while they are being recorded).
- Ring will replace any Ring device stolen for free.
Thanks for the heads-up. I ended up buying the Netgear Orbi system which is also on sale today but I wouldn't have researched it except for this post. Probably saved me a lot of money from hiring someone to hardwire the lines.
I bought the Google Wifi 3 pack system yesterday and just finished installing it.
What a huge improvement in performance, and set up and the accompanied app is a breeze.
Could not be any happier with the end results, now I'm just pissed I didn't purchase and install sooner.

So if I have a Suddenlink Combo Modem/Router do I just plug one of the Google devices into it and then place the other two in various areas of my home for better coverage?
You’ll need to get a modem, disconnect you’re current modem/router setup.
Install the new modem and then hook up one of the google WiFis directly to the modem via Ethernet, then the other google WiFi units around the house.
The setup ease is incredibly simple and straightforward and there’s an app that is very easy to use that makes managing and setup a breeze.
I went with the netgear 32 channel down and 8 up modem and it’s working flawlessly. It’s the CM700. No complaints.
