So last night my 10 year old son decided to be an idiot, and he shot his nerf gun at a pickup truck driving by our house. Apparently his marksmanship is excellent, and he hit the truck. The truck then came back by a minute later, and he plunked it again. While I realize that it’s only a nerf gun (no damage to the vehicle), it’s a stupid thing to do on several fronts. It’s disrespectful, it could have distracted the driver, and in Texas people sometimes shoot back. The driver stopped, was super pissed, I spoke with him, etc.
Right now, I am the tyranny of evil men lol. After speaking with the driver, we came back inside and I popped my son on the butt and let him have it verbally. Now I’m trying to decide what his punishment should be. We have a very steep hill in our neighborhood—I was thinking two nights running hill repeats, and taking his video games away for a couple of weeks.
But I’m curious what your punishment would be if you were in my shoes. My son is a genuinely nice kid, but he’s always getting himself into mild trouble here and there. He’s always getting into something.
