Alright, alright, alright...I just finished up season 1 of Winning Time last night that chronicles Dr. Buss buying the Lakers, drafting Magic Johnson and an immediate rise to fame. Season 1 ended with them beating Philadelphia (sorry, Ketch) 4 games to 2 in the Finals. I looked at a bracket and saw that Houston and San Antonio were in the Eastern Conference back then. The 1979-80 season was a few months before I was born so I have no recollection that I know of. That brings me to my questions.

1. How in the hell was that possible? The bracket shows that Kansas City (before moving to Sacramento) and Milwaukee were both in the West, yet the two Texas teams weren't.

2. The NBA we all know today has Houston and SA in the West. If any of you were alive back then and recall it, do you think either of your teams could have taken out the Lakers? I'm not a Laker hater or fan, just wondered if you had any thoughts on how things may (or may not) have changed NBA history.
