Here are a few quick notes from the abbreviated open portion of Monday practice:

- It was a small viewing window inside DKR, the team was in shorts, shoulder pads and helmets.

- On Saturday, freshman WR Ryan Wingo was reportedly working ahead of Isaiah Bond opposite Johntay Cook, but today in group drills, the starting three WRs were Cook, Deandre Moore and Bond -- the same we saw during Day 1. Wingo was working behind Cook at the Z.

- Also, Matthew Golden was moving back and forth to both of the outside WR positions. It's pretty clear that the staff is still trying to figure out the exact arrangement with these guys.

- Deandre Moore and Ryan Niblett are the only two scholarship receivers who have worked in the slot this spring, and Moore feels like he's a good bit ahead of him. Not only due to his constant usage with the first group and his involvement in two-wide sets opposite Cook, but also because Moore just plain looks and moves better. He runs smooth routes and he has great hands while Niblett seems to be a little more raw at this point, although certainly with great potential.

- In all at the WR position, it seems like the only two situations that don't feel "fluid" at the current moment are Cook and Moore.

- Manny Muhammad sat out. It doesn't seem major as he practiced on Saturday and he seemed to be working fine on the side. Gavin Holmes filled in for him on pursuit drills with the first group.

- Also in the secondary, Andrew Mukuba is still working with the twos at safety in a tandem with Jelani McDonald. Xaiver Filsaime and Jordon Johnson-Rubell work with the third group currently.

- Something is going on with Hayden Conner at center. While we didn't see any offensive team drills, he did all of his two-man work today at center alongside the second-team guards. He is very obviously cross-training there, and in his absence with the first group, Cole Hutson was filling it at LG. I think Conner is probably still the starter at LG and the cross-training has more to do with an insurance plan should anything happen to Majors (Conner to center instead of Robertson or Cruz), but it's something to monitor.

- TE Juan Davis is still clearly number two on the pecking order for now behind Gunnar Helm, but I think it's going to be hard holding off Amari Niblack, who missed winter conditioning and has thus far been working behind all the other scholarship TEs in drills. Niblack had some catches today that really cemented the fact that the guy can play.
