Here are a few notes I wanted to pass along as we move closer to the inevitable coaching change.
- As of last night, UT officials were preparing to have a press conference on Saturday to officially announce the decision. The press conference could take place as early as Saturday morning.
- I asked someone if Strong would attend the press conference and was told, "He come here with his head held high. I don't expect him to leave here with his head down." That is what I heard late last night. We will see what happens when reality hits.
- Everyone in the building knows it is over. I spoke to several people last night, and nobody is holding out hope. From what I was told, even Strong knows it is a wrap, even if he did not indicate defeat during his press conference on Friday.
- The people I spoke to last night were more concerned about uprooting their families than their next job opportunity. Many have young children who love living in Austin, but they will have to leave their friends soon.
- Nobody has even thought about going to a bowl game with five wins. One person told me they were just kicking back and listening to this ...
